"I reached out on Sunday evening and received a response from Mattra early Monday morning. John Craft was patient with all of my questions and concerns. He had an immediate opening the following morning to perform testing for mold. Very quick, polite and professional. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Their pricing was outstanding, several hundred dollars less than a few other companies I had reached out to. Test results came back in 24 hours within a detailed report."

"I thought he did a good job explaining what he did do but very disappointed they didn't explain that you had to pay a lot extra money to actually find out what kind of mold if any you had. The $199.00 fee they only looked for mold & tested the air quality. If they found any mold it cost a lot more to find out what type. He did say we had mold in our crawl space but not what kind, that cost more money. Overall good for what he did do."

"We had mike come to our house to inspect our basement that had flooded out due to a sump pump that failed. Mike came out inspected and told us the expected. We had mold growing actively. We came to an agreement of what was to be done. We got sump pump replaced and got the basement free and clear of water and Mikes team dryer and treated the mold. He came back to ensure that everything was dealt with properly. That 2nd inspection meant the world to us and we would highly recommend Mike and team to anyone who ends up in our situation."

"Rick was very friendly and informative. We had him come in for a water system quote to remove iron and manganese from our water. He sampled our water, gave us the results immediately and also tested our air quality. He was so thorough and knowledgeable that we were able to close the deal on both a water treatment system and air purifiers that are already making a noticeable difference!"

"Jeff and team provided a very clear and detailed report. There were many helpful photos to go along with the text. I would definitely use Campbell Inspections again. And will recommend to anyone I meet looking for an inspector. They turned around a lot of information in the final report in a timely manner."

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Litchfield, ME

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
