"I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. It is very hard to find craftsman who really care about what they do and also so nice to deal with. South Shore Fireplace will be my go to guys for the rest of my life. "Fred's Chimney Magic came to our home after we purchased it. We have an old house and the original chimney everything needed to be repaired...the chimney was falling apart. We needed a new liner and mason work. The head technician was so knowledgeable. They gave us a very fair price to put in a new liner, chimney cap and repair the falling brick. Will definitely recommend them again!"

"They did a GREAT job! They first ran into permit problems in Brookline, but Rich (?) was able to fix that and didn't charge me extra. Then on the day of the work, they showed up and worked through to the next day and removed the whole chimney from the inside without making a dent in the house. I was MOST impressed with this as I have 2 small children so dust is a big deal to me. Since they are so prompt and efficiently, i was able to coordinate with my roofer to come in on the same day to seal up the roof. At the end of the day, you couldn't even tell that someone had removed a chimney just minutes before. Highly recommended!

"Our chimney needed to be rebuilt from the roof up. We called Carl for an estimate and he sent someone out who gave a free verbal estimate of $1300.00. We scheduled the work and were told they would come out to do the project as soon as they could, as there were other projects ahead of us. The work was completed during three consecutive days by the same gentleman who came out the first time to give the verbal estimate. On the third day, when the work was completed, Carl's worker stated he would be collecting a check from us that day. He then asked what we were quoted on the formal estimate from the company. This came as a complete surprise to us as the only estimate we had ever received was the free, verbal estimate when he first visited our home. He then told my husband he was under the impression the total for the work came to $1800.00 and then he called Carl to confirm. Because of the miscommunication, Carl agreed to charge us $1350.00. This was a positive aspect in our dealings with the company, although they could have been more communicative and clear regarding a formal estimate in the first place. After the work was done, we noticed a lot of debris on our roof, including broken bricks and mortar from the old chimney. We also noticed that a large piece of mortar/cement had been left under our back deck as well as had been spread over parts of our foundation. We are assuming this was extra and the worker was trying to dispose of it. We also never received a receipt for the work. We should have asked for one when we gave him the check, but we were going out of town and were in a rush. Therefore, my husband called Carl multiple times the next week. Carl never answered his phone and his voicemail box was full every single time. My husband also sent an e-mail to the address listed on the company's website, detailing our concerns: 1) no receipt, 2) debris on the roof, and 3) a free cleaning of the chimney which had been part of a verbal agreement -- and my husband never heard back. Due to their unresponsiveness and the mess that was left at our home, we have given up on contacting this company and will be using a different company for any further chimney repairs or cleanings in the future."

"AJF Construction did an excellent job. The two people who worked on our project, one of whom is the owner, were professional, honest, easy to work with, and very meticulous in the quality of their work. One major part of the project required the disassembly, cleaning, repair and replacement of floor-to-ceiling screens in a screened-in porch. This was custom-built, so each panel only fit its original location, and disassembly was complicated by some settling of the porch. They did a beautiful job on it, and did not paint over any hardware, so the next time it needs fixing it will be easy to do so. The quotes were detailed and there were no cost overruns. They did a great job on everything, kept us informed as the work progressed, and left the site cleaner than it was when they started. We were very impressed. We recently hired them again to replace a slide glass door. They did a wonderful job on that too."

He did say that I received an in town discount, as I live in same town as his business **Please note: I am not aware of the current Chimney Sweeping Prices. This may be a fair price. "Leo and his team were very professional. Leo had given me a quote to replace the cap to my chimney and about a month had passed and I hadn't yet decided if I was going to hire him. He then proactively reached out to me to let me know that they were running a special on the cap my chimney needed, at which point I decided to hire him. At the last minute, I also asked if his team could sweep my chimney since I had been in my house for 3+ years and hadn't had it done yet. He was flexible and willing to add the service without any issue. The cap looks great and I was very happy with the level of service and communication. When Leo wasn't able to reach me by phone, he contacted me by Angie's List messaging to make sure I received his comments. Would definitely hire again!"
