"The contractor was very professional and did an excellent job. I only had some old paint, so he went and got a new can of paint at the local home improvement store. My appointment was delayed a few days due to circumstances beyond their control, and they worked with me to reschedule the work on a day that would work for me. I would definitely hire them again."

"My husband and I were shopping for a kitchen backsplash and wanted to work with a local store instead of going to a box home store. Cand O was extremely patient in helping us to select a kitchen backsplash. We spent many hours at their showroom. There was some disorganization where the salesperson could not find sales books, etc, in their store. Our salesperson was not comfortable with computer use and this hindered our ability to make a selection. An appt. was set to come to our home to measure and give an estimate. The husband and wife team called to say they could not come as scheduled and arrived many hours late. If coming to our home during business hours was problem, they should have scheduled us after store hours. This was inconsiderate and unprofessional. When they did come, many measurements were taken and decisions made about where the stone backsplash would be installed and also about new outlet covers to match. We accepted the contract about a week later and gave a 1/3 deposit of $1000. The owner suggested work would begin in about 2-3 weeks. As it turned out, work began 6 weeks later. Their was no communication from them concerning this delay. When the installers arrived, they had none of the info on the decisions we had made 7 weeks earlier about details of the installation. My husband called me at work and we had to try to remember what we had decided via photos sent via email. The owner mentioned that he would stop by during the 3 day installation. He never did. The installers quickly noticed that a design we had decided on would not look well at all. He was able to suggest an alternate design that turned out beautiful. Why didn't the salesperson realize this when we planned out the design? The installers were fabulous. They were extremely experienced in their craft and installed an absolutely beautiful stone backsplash. Cand O did not have the outlet covers ready for the install. They were provided in a few days. Attention to detail by our salesperson was poor. We made it clear that we were interested in doing business with them for multiple projects. You would think they would have done their best knowing that we were potentially a money making client. That just didn't seem to matter."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lonaconing, MD

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
