"My husband and I have been contractors for 20yrs and LNK is one of the finest contractors we have done business with. Roger and his crew came to our home and removed a 20yr old death trap of a deck from our property and built a beautiful composite deck for us and we could not be happier. Roger and his crew were the most professional and kind and easy to work with and not only provided deck build but also concrete work on the property. Our project was on budget and delivered on time with zero hassles. We plan to use LNK in the fall for more interior work. Thanks LNK!"

"We contracted for a deck of 908 sq feet with Trex decking. Two big snowstorms just as the project started, and in the middle made for a messy work area. Some minor changes in the process were made without an agreement on cost, ended up contributing to a sour closing. The workmanship and the quality of the materials appeared to be excellent. The deck is very nice and met all our expectations."

"Daniel and the team were professional, considerate, honest and timely with their work. We had over 5 bids for our project which was a large investment and went through a long vetting process. Daniel answered all my questions honestly and provided a consultative approach to the project. We had a concrete pour and a deck rebuild D&D could do both, most contractors could only do the deck and said we needed to outsource the concrete elsewhere. The deck project was done in two weeks and the outcome was better than what I had imagined. The team was very clean and picked up all remnants of the materials, I highly recommend D&D for any deck or patio repair, rebuild, or new build. They are honest and hard working, will definitely give a referral or use for any future projects on our house. Glad I found this team. "Fernando and his crew lead by Manuel did a fantastic job on my landscape project. Fernando is a great communicator. I was kept in the loop about the project every step of the way. When questions or concerns came up, Fernando addressed them with our desired outcome as his main priority. The project outcome exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to hire him again. I highly recommend!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"Peppers Landesign was amazing on multiple projects on multiple of my properties. I would highly recommend for any jobs outside your house. Very high level of detail and care used on various projects. I have used them for a modern fence, replacement of concrete sidewalk and stairs. New sprinkler system, sod and a retaining wall. It’s so nice working with Gabriel Peppers, he is reliable, fair priced and great at communicating throughout the whole process. His expertise was valuable as he was able to make polite recommendations which was super helpful in avoiding issues I had not foreseen. I will be using them again and again for future projects. All work they did came out better than I had expected or hoped for. They were even respectful of dozens of plants where our fence was going in, I expected them to all be trampled but none were!! Highly recommend them."

FAQs for deck or porch projects in Lone Tree, CO

To maximize your budget, compare quotes of several builders that fit within your specifications. Don’t be afraid to draw a wider geographic circle if the contractor is willing to travel without charging more. But affordability only matters if you get a quality deck out of it.

Cutting corners or simply finding the cheapest pro could result in significant problems. The materials used may be cheap and rot quickly. The support the surface provides might be unstable and dangerous. Always consider the long-term costs and benefits of quality work. Paying less upfront may actually be more expensive if you consider the cost of repairs.

Deciding on which materials you should use depends entirely on the type of deck you’re looking for. Composite works well for a simple surface exposed to harsh elements, while concrete is the standard choice for many patios. Your decking material options can range from wood to aluminum. Learn about the pros and cons of these materials to make the right decision.

You can build a deck during any season, which is why choosing the right time for this project depends on your preferences:

  • Spring: get your deck ready in time for landscaping and to enjoy it throughout the warmer seasons.

  • Summer: use spring for the planning process, then get the project ready before it gets cold out.

  • Fall: Limit turf or landscape damage by building once most plants begin to recede.

  • Winter: make the excavation process easier, thanks to cold and firm ground.

Many deck builders prefer winter, which is also the season with the shortest waiting queues. Still, other seasons are far from impossible for this type of project.

Expect a thorough examination of the space, and the development of a project schedule. Delivery of materials might already have occurred or could be planned at this point.

Additional research about working with deck builders can help you understand what to expect from experts, and what they expect from you.

Make sure the site of the deck or patio is clear of any landscaping and debris. The contractor will also call a utilities locator service to mark power, water, cable, and other services around the area where they will be digging. The cleaner the area your builder has to work with, the more quickly they can get started. Make sure they have space to park any construction vehicles. Find a dry space for materials that might need storage during the install. Finally, ensure clear access to the site through your house or property.

When it comes to the DIY vs. hire a pro decision for your deck, the answer tends to be clear. Only take it on yourself if you have significant expertise and experience. Without either, you risk building a faulty exterior space, leading to injury risks. Projects built without necessary expertise also break more quickly, making them more expensive in the long run.

If you do want to take on decking as a DIY project, be sure to do your research. Learn about installing the posts and footing for your framing. Understand how to lay decking boards and build the railings and stairs you need for access and security.
