"Gary, the install tech, was great. He arrived on time, was professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right and I was satisfied. He installed a new radon pipe, and ensured the clamps were not directly against the house and the top of the pipe was properly away from the gutter. After the pipe was installed I noticed a rattling noise coming from the motor...Gary checked it and cleaned out debris multiple times until the noise was gone. You could tell Gary takes pride in his work and wanted to do the job right the first time (I feel like you don't see this very often). A job well done."

"The entire experience with Rick from Aaron associates was outstanding. He was extremely easy to contact and returned phone calls very quickly. He came to our home after normal hours to inspect our home and give us a quote. When he and his team arrived, the installation process was no different. They arrived and got right to work. They worked great as a team and were very helpful in answering questions and explaining the entire process and expected results. We are extremely happy with the entire job. They even included a test canister to run a post-mitigation radon test and a postage paid envelope. <br />"

"Very well. Punctual and thorough. Tom invited me to follow him and ask questions as he worked. Very friendly and thoughtful in answering questions. Encouraged reaching out with any follow up questions. Agreed to have radon test in addition to home inspection."

"John was punctual, cheerful, knowledgeable (most importantly,) and a good communicator. Final inspection report captured items needing immediate attention but also will serve as a "to do list" going forward for things that would be helpful to attend to in our new home. We chose to add a radon test to the inspection which added ca. $130 to the total cost."

"I have contracted this company for two home inspections, wood destroying insect inspections, and a radon test. Problems from our first home inspection prevented us from purchasinga home which had serious electrical concerns (knob and tube wiring hidden in insulation). I would absolutely recommend them. The report is delivered electronically the same day as the inspection."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"I arrived at the property about 20 minutes prior to our scheduled appointment, John was already there and another inspector was setting up the radon test. John walked me around the outside and explained what he saw and answered a few questions. Most of the home inspection focused on the basement area, but John answered all of my questions and offered a lot of information I wouldn't have thought to ask. I received my radon report a few days later. I ended up purchasing the house, I have been in it for almost a month and haven't found anything that wasn't covered in the inspection report.  <br /> Tiger is very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about purchasing a home. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Longmeadow, MA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
