We hold on to one very important word here at Schleifer’s WoodWorks LLC… Integrity. This company is built on it. When we started out on the idea of building “another construction company” we knew we had to be different. Together, Corey and his team have 30+ years in construction and a wealth of knowledge in over 20 trades and specialties. With all of our history living, working, and loving these Twin Cities, we needed to bring out the best in our fields. One of the biggest problems in construction today is the lack of attention to the customer… YOU! We take jobs one by one to ensure we get it done right, the first time. We pride ourselves on our experience and aim to bring “the craft” back to craftsmanship. Let’s get connected.

"We had our deck tear down and build done by Outdoor Solutions Inc. late summer of 2022. The finished product turned out much better (appearance and quality of construction) than we could have imagined. Jim and Christi Funk, the proprietors, were very easy and friendly to work with. Jim was very informative in helping select the material and describing the process. He was great at describing the qualities of TREX materials and the type of railing that would be best. His crew, with Josh as the lead, was very thorough and conscientious in doing the work. They definitely wanted to do the job the right way. Bottom line, we have a very beautiful deck at a very reasonable price. People comment on how well it fits our house. For area of improvements’: project start date could be better planned and material delivery could be better coordinated. Outside of this, we are very happy with work done on our deck."

"Clean and Clear is a great company. I was notified prior to cleaning when they would be at my home for exterior window cleaning. The man that cleaned was very pleasant and did an excellent job! I will definitely use this company for all my window cleaning in the future! Their pricing is lower than other companies I contacted and their work was swift and clean! You can’t go wrong with this company!"

"I had an outstanding experience with Precision Decks. I met with them during the winter to discuss removing two small decks and replacing them with one larger deck that wrapped around the back of my house in somewhat of an L-shape. I am rather particular about aesthetics and construction quality, and I was impressed when I talked to Nick, who designs their decks, about options. He discouraged me from doing things that would have been expensive but of uncertain value in my application (such as adding a pergola), or that detracted from looks or function of the deck. He was very objective and knowledgeable about alternative building materials and their tradeoffs. I ultimately chose to use Ipe rather than a composite material. It’s a very expensive wood that is extremely durable and hard, but consequently difficult to work with, but it is beautiful and does not retain heat like composites. Nick met with me a few times to figure out the design. He was extremely patient and has an excellent sense of design. He gave excellent information, made great suggestions, and did not pressure me to build a deck or hire them but instead inspired confidence that made me certain that I wanted to hire Precision Decks. The quality of their work is unsurpassed. The lead carpenter on my project, Kevin, is a true craftsman. The structure under the deck is more substantial and well-built than many houses. It is “overbuilt,” meaning that the joists and the beams seem closer together than is typical, giving the deck a rock-solid foundation. I wanted a somewhat complex design, using diagonal decking that changed direction a couple of times, and a set of stairs that was recessed into the deck. I also “sealed off” the area under the deck with screen and Trex lattice. It was built with extraordinary attention to detail and care. Everyone who sees my deck is truly impressed. Whereas they are not inexpensive, they are a very good value. If you are predominantly concerned about cost, they may not be the company for you. However, if you are more concerned about the quality of the work for the dollars you invest, I would not hesitate to hire them. If I were to build another deck, I would not even consider another company."

"We had a patio door replaced by Tom's window team. As with past work down by Craftsmen, the work was professional and the team responded to all questions asked and resolved any issues raised. We were very happy with their work."

"Barack, the owner of New Again Deck Renewal, was easy to work with, generous with his time and advice, and extremely fair in his pricing. He is a popular choice on Angie's list so he stays busy during the non-winter seasons and can be hard to schedule if you wait too long. Working through e-mails, I sent Barack photos of the current condition of the deck and he immediately offered me a couple of options - clean and stain or replace the deck planks. I asked him to come and look at the deck in person, so he did. Once he saw the actual deck he advised me to rip off the deck planks and replace them with new cedar. He assured me that the joists beneath the deck were sound. He suggested that I check out his site on the internet to see the recent work he'd done and to get a feel for different styles. "What you like is up to you," he said. "I can do whatever you want but you have to decide the look that you're comfortable with." So, I did that, and he then directed me to check out the Decks Direct site for railing options and prices. Barack sent me an estimate for his part of the project and carefully reviewed my choices of railing hardware. (I ended up spending about $2,000 for the metal railings). I thought Barack's estimate was very fair and, in addition, he gave me a substantial Angie's list discount. I provided a downpayment and we settled on an install date (trying to work between rainy days). I ordered the railing and had it shipped to my house. Everything went great. Barack and a partner were punctual and came and removed the old deck planks in one day and staged most of the new wood. He came back another day with a crew of four to cut and install the new wood and to assemble and install the railing hardware. The deck looks absolutely wonderful. Everything was cleaned up perfectly. We loved the experience. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to have the deck renewed! I highly recommend this company and, yes, I would use them again."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Loretto, MN

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
