"<p> </p> <p>Jarod was great. I was told that they would meet me between 8-12. He showed up around 9am. He even insisted on putting on booties to protect my house from his shoes; unnecessary, but notably respectable. He tested the light bulb unit and looked things over. Turned out my problem was caused by user error. Apparently, if the mustard was preventing the door from closing, then the light doesn't go off and eventually it can start to melt the plastic. Stupid mustard. Anyway, I was only charged for the service charge, and he told me that if it continues to malfunction, and that doesn't end up being the problem, then the next service call charge would be waived. Excellent service!</p> <p> </p> <p>I'd also like to note how well prepared these guys were. When I scheduled, I was supposed to call back and relay the model # of the fridge...of course forgot, but a woman called around 8pm and requested that information. She was very pleasant and patient with me as I tried to read the tiny print, she even allowed me to send her a picture to a cell phone. My guess is that they do this so that they can better prepare for any parts they might need. Impressive. It's the little things that make these kind of things run smoother... these guys are quite the TEAM of professionals! I hope to never need them again, but I’m glad to know this type of appliance repair shop still exists. I’ve had some run in with the opposite. But these guys, 5Stars! </p> <p> </p>"

"My 1962 Hotpoint/GE stove started throwing sparks when I was cleaning the oven. Mike's Independent Repair Services was the first appliance repair service that was comfortable working on a stove that old. The stove is built into the cabinetry in the kitchen and replacing it would have required us to rip up counters and cabinets to get it out. Mike was familiar with the stove make, model and year when I called (two other appliance repair places laughed when they heard this stove is almost 50 years old). He could have come out the next day, but I made the appt. for the day after. He gave me a 2-hr window for the estimated arrival time, and was at my house within that time period. He was not able to repair the wiring to the light inside the oven, but was able to sort of tape it off and make it safe. He also evaluated the four burners on the stove top. Three work well but the fourth needed both a new burner and a new switch, and he told me those parts aren't available anymore. We turned the power on and tested both oven and burners when he was done. I am low on cash right now and am happy to have a range that works (I can easily live without the oven light and 3 burners instead of 4). My biggest concern was that the stove be safe to use, and I'm confident that it is after having Mike work on it. He and his helper arrived on time, were professional and courteous, and knew what they were doing. His hourly rate of $55 is comparable with other repair services in this area. He spent about one hour here and the total charge including tax was just under $60. He has several licenses and also works on refrigerqators, freezers, washers, dryers and dishwashers. Bonded and insured. I would DEFINITELY use him again!"

"Roy was easy to get a hold of and was kind enough to make an appointment for me after work. He was prompt and there before the scheduled time. I called Roy as he came highly recommended by a half dozen people when I asked around about appliance repair. He fixed my oven in under a half hour and for substantially less than I thought it was going to cost me. "Quality of service for the spring and fall changeover service went well. The serviceman, Mat, was very knowledgable.  <br /> My problem was the cost of service. I entered a 1-year contract with Pearl Mechanical on May 1, 2015 to provide the semi-annual heating and evaporative cooler changeover, and annual tankless water heater flush for a total of $198.I misunderstood the terminology of the contract, and was charged an additional $182 for the evaporative cooler service. <br /> When I spoke with Mat during the October 14 service about this confusion, he spoke with Andrew at the Pearl Mechanical office and told me to expect a refund for the overcharge. No refund arrived. In following up, I learn now that the contract that I misinterpreted did not include the evaporative cooler service, and that I had to absorb this service charge. I was told that I was the first customer for Pearl Mechanical to service evaporative coolers. I feel that I was misled. Caveat emptor. Live and learn? <br />"
