"We had an appointment set two weeks in advance for a Wednesday at 8:00am. On the morning of the appointment, I received a call at 8:15am from Handyman Matters informing that the handyman got into an accident and would not make my appointment. I was promised a call back later to schedule another appointment. A couple of hours later, I still did not receive a call so I called Handyman Matters myself to see what was going on. I was told that they are reviewing their schedule and would try to squeeze me as soon as possible. Finally, they were able to make an appointment for me for the following Monday morning. Monday morning came and the handyman showed up. He was professional and after inspecting my bathroom and the outside of the house, he determined that he could not access the attic and had to cut holes into the ceiling in order to install my bath fan. I was provided with an estimate of 5-8 hours which I authorized. He told me that he would put the drywall back into the ceiling but he was not comfortable with patching the seams and painting over them. He told me that he would ask the office to send someone out to do that instead. I agreed thinking that it would happen on the same date and I went to purchase the spackle and paint that would be needed for that (plus all the other necessary supplies to do the install). I then left to go to work. At the end of the day, my wife informed me that the handyman was done after 6.25 hours but there was no one to patch the seams and paint over that. I called Handyman Matters and informed them that even though the handyman did a good job with installing the fan, the job is incomplete since the ceiling was not patched and painted. I was told that they will send someone else out to do the drywall patching and painting but it would be a whole new job at another time. I told them that it didn't make sense to me that the handyman I had could install an entire bath fan and do all the related work but he could not patch and paint drywall? Handyman Matters did tell me that they would waive the travel charge for the new job but it would take 2 hours which at their rate would be close to $200. I told Handyman Matters that the job should have been completed in one project and the additional cost for a new job to patch and paint the drywall is unreasonable and that I do not want to spend that kind of money for such a small job. Again, the handyman did a fine job installing the bath fan, connecting that to the existing light switch, and exhaust out to the side of the house. However, it is unacceptable that the same handyman could not finish the job by patching over the cuts he made to my ceiling and paint over that. I spent over $500 (just in labor cost to Handyman Matters) to come home to a bathroom with seams in my ceiling (see pictures) that any average handyman should be able to patch and paint."
