"We have worked with other carpet stores over the years and are fortunate to <br /> have found Carpet Carousel on Angie’s List. We needed to recarpet the upstairs <br /> study which is reached through a “floating” spiral staircase. Both the study <br /> and the treads of the staircase had to use the same material. <br /> <br /> We first had a store we were familiar with take a look. They initially <br /> weren’t sure how they would carpet the treads of the spiral staircase or how <br /> they would move the furniture to carpet the study. I then found Carpet Carousel <br /> on Angie’s List and Shawn came over. He immediately figured how to carpet the <br /> treads and move the furniture. We then visited their show room where Shawn <br /> showed us a number of samples that could work. We took a few with us and made a <br /> decision. In the meantime, we got a quote from the other carpet store and <br /> nearly fell over – it was just about twice the price of Carpet Carousel. <br /> <br /> The installation was excellent. The two men doing the job were punctual <br /> and knew exactly what to do. After the job was done, the area was vacuumed and <br /> the furniture replaced. I highly recommend Carpet Carousel and only wish I had <br /> known about them years ago. <br />"

"Century Carpet was fantastic! When I first went into the store, the associate Katie was so warm and friendly. She was helpful and honest, and took into consideration my likes and dislikes and guided me perfectly. The entire process was very smooth from start to finish! The gentleman that came out to measure was friendly and professional, and the same goes for the installer. I am so happy with how my new carpeting looks and I would highly recommend Century Carpet to anyone. Two thumbs up!!"

"Nick was great to work with.  From the very beginning in suggesting carpets to look at for our needs, to borrowing the boards for color comparison to working within our budget, everything was very transparent.  The installers were incredibly professional, very careful of our house (it was raining the day of our installation so they wiped their boots all day long) and cleaned up nicely.  Very happy and highly recommend. <br />"

"While not inexpensive, Mike was the best! He was always on time, pulled up and carried off the existing carpet and pad, drove in all the nails that had risen, then sanded 3 times with successively finer grit, stained, and put 3 coats of poly on, requiring 3 separate trips. Each time he arrived punctually, put down drop clothes, and conducted himself in a professional manner. Highly recommend! He is a true craftsman and you will be thankful you hired him."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lowell, MA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
