"Scott was AMAZING. I had a very tight timeframe to carpet my dad's home and was in a panic. He provided great advice on what type of carpet I should get (my dad has a dog) and actually saved me money from going with my original idea of a higher priced item. He completed the entire house well ahead of schedule and even took care of my dad's garage door when the power ran out. Would HIGHLY recommend him! Maria"

"Bob the installer was phenominal. A real craftsman. I know my old house was tricky because nothing is flat or square but he worked with it. As soon as he came into the house, I felt confident. He didn't waste time and worked constantly. It took him two days, did the subfloor the first day and laid the vinyl the second day, and the floor is lovely. I look at it every day and really love it. The only issue I have with Marshall is the sales person. Great making the sale, but after I purchased the flooring I had a few questions. He wouldn't call back and I had to keep calling or get answers from someone else at the company. But, with the end result, I am very pleased and have recommended them to everyone."

"I am overwhelmed by the experience.  We were initially afraid we couldn't afford them because everything they offer is such high quality - but their prices were better than some lower end places.  Beyond that, the service was the best I've ever gotten.  The installer for the wood is an artist.  He trimmed, cut, and fit around curves and small areas.  The work is seamless. We bought unfinished baseboards to save money, and the installer brought the baseboards in for me to prestain and came back two days after the job was otherwise finished to install them on his own time to make it easier for me as staining them once up is hard.  He put floor protectors on all the furniture so it wouldn't scratch the new wood - and while he was doing my dining room chairs he fixed the broken one!  The kitchen tile is gorgeous and they replaced the toe kicks (which I didn't expect) so it would look good with the tile. <br /> The men who came for the carpet did a great job.  They were funny and helpful.  We were getting new furniture and we mentioned that to them - so they volunteered to take our old furniture to the curb since it was trash day. <br /> I don't know where they find these people - but the skill and committment to customer satisfaction is beyond anything I've experienced anywhere but Disney World.  I would never consider any place else in the future. <br />"

"After the remnants of Hurricane Sandy hit Cleveland, our finished basement was flooded. I looked at Home Depot, and some of the big name carpet places, but before I pulled the trigger on any of that I got a recommendation from my brother-in-law to check this place out. It is in midtown Cleveland, and it feels a bit more like a warehouse than a showroom, but there is a good reason for that. They don't spend a lot of money on advertising, a fancy showroom, or other frivolities, and you reap the benefits of that. The prices are terrific and the service is unbeatable. Josh Cohen worked with us, and he is the kind of guy you wish you could work with on every project. He was extremely helpful and gave honest answers, but never pressured us on anything we didn't want. After we went to the showroom and picked out the carpet, Josh came out to our house the next day and measured precisely. I believe we went in on a Friday, and it was installed by the next Wednesday, which was awesome. If I had bought at Home Depot I would have been waiting nearly a month. The guys who installed it were great; they have been one of Carpet Capitol's crews for something like 30 years they said. I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. What a great price for a whole basement of wall-to-wall carpeting. <br /> As a side note, Josh is a pretty talented artist. Not only does he run the main carpet business, he also creates rug art. A unique and extremely neat skill, he can create nearly anything you have in mind. I particularly enjoyed the Star Wars rug you see on his website, but that's just me. <br />"

"This is the fourth time that my family has worked with Frederick's for our carpeting needs, and they never disappoint! When our closing date for our new home was delayed by several days, Micki did not give up until she could find an alternative time for our carpet install before the revised move date. The installers arrived ahead of schedule and worked efficiently and professionally, thanking us several times for the opportunity to do the work in our home. It looks great and we would never use anyone else!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Madison, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
