A call for service to all the regularly mentioned places in Nextdoor resulted in three call backs – Ted and two service companies, who could come in a day or two. Ted asked for the model and symptoms. From his questioning he diagnosed the problem over the phone. And he squeezed me into his schedule and made the repair the same day. "Total Appliance Service was one of two repair shops in my area listed on the manufacturer's web site. Some of the reviews on Angie's list for TAS are dreadful. So, I called the other shop first. There was a scheduling mishap with them, and I called TAS. My clothes washer has a 5 year warranty when the industry standard is for 3 years. The first place I called was very skeptical. They eventually agreed to honor that provided I produce the warranty documentation. TAS lookup up my model online while I was on the phone and confirmed the 5-year warranty. The technician arrived within the window and had a part in hand. Based on my description he knew what was wrong. He completed the repair within a reasonable amount of time and was personable. My experience with TAS was good."

"I contacted Fred's appliance service through their website. They had a technician in our area and he was able to come out same day. He knew exactly what was wrong, had the part in his truck and was able to fix it same day. The drain line coming out of the freezer had clogged and needed to be replaced. Whirlpool acknowledges the faulty part so the part itself is free (paid by Whirlpool). Glad the technician knew all about Whirlpool refrigerators and was able to fix so quickly. He also thawed the freezer enough to get out the layer of ice that had built up."
