"They was very professional and friendly but very very very expensive. Spent 2 hours at my house from 8am and found the problem and was fixed by 10am and gone. 2 hours cost me $898. No parts, just 2 hours in labor. I thought was absolutely ridiculous but you gotta pay."

"Jim was a very good communicator and was able to give a general estimate over the phone based upon an inspection report we provided to him. They were able to come within our timeframe of a week, and did excellent work. Whenever my husband or I contacted Jim about anything, he always got back to us in a very short time. One of the best experiences I have had with any contractor. We would definitely hire again."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Not much to say , work was arranged he came , a bit later then mention but he called ahead and inform me.  During the work , he found a minor problem let me know about it and I ask if he could do it either now or later.  He had the time and was able to do the work , so no extra arranging of time was needed.  When smoothly."

"I called because my pottery kiln was not working, I thought it was just a problem with my breaker.  I was wrong! After checking power in my studio I found out that half of my studio was not getting power and my 220 outlet were only putting out 110 power(not Good)
I called K&N services and told them this was an urgent problem . He said he would stop in the next day and HE DID After checking out my electrical box he discovered that my main breaker was out. This could have ended upa $1300.00 because my electrical box is an outdated model . He went to several electrical supply houses and found one for my outdated electrical box, saving me a ton of money. He was fast, courtious, and saved me a lot of money. This not the kind of service I am used to recieving , I will use him for all future work on my home and studio, Including a new roof in spring.

FAQs for attic or whole house fan service projects in Madison, WI

Attic fans may not significantly lower your energy bill, as the electricity they use can offset savings from reduced cooling costs. However, they can reduce the strain on your air conditioner by removing hot air from the attic, potentially improving your home's overall energy efficiency. Additionally, attic fans help reduce humidity and protect your roof from extreme heat.

An attic fan can last up to 15 years under optimal conditions. Proper installation, regular maintenance, and environmental factors all influence its lifespan. Routine cleaning, lubricating moving parts, and professional inspections can help preserve your fan's efficiency. An attic fan installer near you will install one that works best in your climate.

Signs of a bad attic fan motor include a burning electrical smell coming from the exhaust vent or the fan not turning on. However, a non-functioning fan can also indicate other issues, such as a faulty thermostat, mechanical failure, or a bad electrical connection. Call a local professional to accurately diagnose the problem and suggest viable solutions.

It's not necessary to turn off your attic fan in the winter. Running the fan during the colder months of the year can help reduce attic moisture, prevent ice dams on the roof, and lower the risk of mold growth. If you choose to turn off your attic fan, ensure that attic vents remain open to allow proper airflow.
