"Excellent. John set to work right away. He worked very fast and was very knowledgeable. He determined a baseboard heater needed replacement and gave options to choose. He had a very complex task with a porch light the had no power only to find the circuit was dead and found a light fixture that was miswired and had burned the insulation off the wire. He repaired it . finding the problem required getting into the attic crawl space to trace where the wires went. I was grateful he found and fixed it as it was dangerous."

"This company was wonderful. They far exceeded my expectations. Before clearing my clog she crawled under my house and inspected the pipes to ensure she could safely service them, was professional, very through and prompt. The scheduling staff was knowledgeable and responsive as well. As a landlord I’ve used lots of service providers and this company provides excellent service at a very affordable price. I will definitely use them again."

"Charles impressed from the quote stage. He sat and calculated a detailed estimate based on you vision and stated within budget even going the extra mile on slight tweaks. His attention to detail was also very impressive from lining up best places to put overhead lights (very exacting) to providing guidance on latest trends. The tradesmen and his crew were outstanding and very professional and clean (not tracking dust through the house). Felt comfortable with them there without us around. Charles worked hard to overcome several challenges while keeping to schedule which was amazing and most appreciated as this was a big project. We were so impressed that we wanted him to keep working on other projects! Maybe next year."

"We had several small drywall cracks that needed repair, and our pull-down attic ladder had a bad hinge.  Walt and Tammy were prompt and responsive to these issues, and they also took care of a couple of additional drywall repairs without changing the estimate.  The attic ladder was an unusual repair, as it involved modifying a poorly assembled lower segment, but Walt was able to correct this without issue.  In addition, Tammy noticed some cracked caulking in our bathroom by the tub, which she also repaired for no additional charge.
Overall, we are satisfied with the work done, and we will definitely use the service again for handyman needs."

"Ethereal Elements provided exceptional, professional and quality work repairing my basement wall leak. Dealing with Q was very easy, he is personable and to the point. Dale, who performed the work knew exactly what he was doing, he was quality oriented from start to finish. The work was completed on 4 October, I held off writing this feedback in hopes we would have a couple of extreme downpours so I could verify the basement would not leak. Q guaranteed the basement would not leak again, or they would come out and fix it. The cost of this job was reasonable and I was able to use the discount coupon. I would hire Ethereal Elements again."

"I don't know if I will be able to afford the project, but he was gracious enough to just come and spend some time with me, and talk to me about some of the pitfalls that may be and what we could do. He didn't do an estimate yet because I have to go to the planning commission. He was able to point out to me the areas that I need to check with planning to determine whether or not this building can be turned into an accessory dwelling. He came to discuss it with me, and we were way early for an estimate and it was a fact finding. He didn't charge me. I asked him if he needs to charge me for his time to go ahead and he laughed and said I was being silly, so he did not charge. He is an enormous guy to work with. He was probably here for more than an hour. I just recommended him to somebody in the neighborhood just a couple of hours ago. I think he is great. I have had a lot of contractor guys around who did really shoddy work, didn't come on time, and left a mess, and when I  ran into him, I was shocked to find somebody out there who did things the right way. "

"It went very well. Choice Home Warranty dispatched an HVAC service provider to my house the next day. The problem turned out to be two rather expensive parts for my furnace that needed replacement. The HVAC provider had to get approval from Choice Home Warranty to purchase and replace the parts. The repairman told me that in his experience working with home warranty companies, there was a chance that either the company would deny the request or that approval would take many days. Much to his and his company's surprise (and my deep relief), Choice approved the repairs within a matter of hours, and the service provider returned the next morning to repair my furnace. The repairs would've cost me over $700; instead, I only had to pay the small service call fee as outlined in my contract with Choice Home Warranty. I very highly recommend Choice Home Warranty for every homeowner! It's brought me such peace of mind to know that if any of my covered items -- and they cover a lot! -- should need expensive repairs, Choice has my back. Thank you, Choice Home Warranty! p.s. It's now a warm, comfortable 68 degrees inside my house."

FAQs for attic or whole house fan service projects in Portland, OR

Attic fans may not significantly lower your energy bill, as the electricity they use can offset savings from reduced cooling costs. However, they can reduce the strain on your air conditioner by removing hot air from the attic, potentially improving your home's overall energy efficiency. Additionally, attic fans help reduce humidity and protect your roof from extreme heat.

An attic fan can last up to 15 years under optimal conditions. Proper installation, regular maintenance, and environmental factors all influence its lifespan. Routine cleaning, lubricating moving parts, and professional inspections can help preserve your fan's efficiency. An attic fan installer near you will install one that works best in your climate.

Signs of a bad attic fan motor include a burning electrical smell coming from the exhaust vent or the fan not turning on. However, a non-functioning fan can also indicate other issues, such as a faulty thermostat, mechanical failure, or a bad electrical connection. Call a local professional to accurately diagnose the problem and suggest viable solutions.

It's not necessary to turn off your attic fan in the winter. Running the fan during the colder months of the year can help reduce attic moisture, prevent ice dams on the roof, and lower the risk of mold growth. If you choose to turn off your attic fan, ensure that attic vents remain open to allow proper airflow.
