"We went to another carpet place originally who told us the carpet we wanted would take over 3 weeks to be shipped. Mark from Bay carpet came to our house(wearing a mask of course)and was able to get and install the same carpet in a week. Their price was $100 less than our original quote, They also re-stretched a carpet in another room that was not installed properly. They came on time, were very neat and did a great job. Highly recommend"

"Everything was excellent. I've been in Brooklyn for over 35 years and have always gone to Richie for carpeting before moving into a new place. This time I needed new carpeting in a place I've lived in for 20 years and the kitchen needed a makeover. Richie and his sons were helpful in picking out the perfect carpets for the bedroom, living room, foyer and hallway as well as some awesome COREtec planking to give the kitchen a new look. I have always been pleased with the work done by Richie and Sons. This time I was especially impressed with his Team as they ripped up the old carpeting and put in the new as well as that new kitchen floor. The guys were on time, worked hard and efficiently, moved all sorts of furniture to get the job done and cleaned up afterwards. To me the job seemed impossible, so it was like a miracle to see what could be done once in the hands of these professionals. I'm over the top satisfied and would highly recommend them for any carpet/flooring need ... large or small."

"We are so happy with our choice and grateful for the care, attention and concern Fred's showed helping us chose our flooring. The service was perfect too. Measurements taken right on schedule. Installation was right on time, professional, courteous, cleaned up, trash bagged and bundled. I had gotten so used to box store non-service, I was in awe of the care and attention we received by this family business. Do yourself a favor, stop by and choose from a larger selection, get advise from pros and feel thanked for spending your hard earned money at a family owned business."

"Not well. Carpet guy came with two helpers whose behavior was questionable, He did not do any of the cleaning himself. Carpets remained very wet for a long period of time. Overpriced for quality of service performed."

"The crew was very professional and did a fantastic job. Our basement carpet, which had stains from when we had cats, and which we were resigned to replacing, looks like new. We had made multiple attempts to get the stains out ourselves, using multiple treatments and Rug Doctor, and had no luck, but they're not just better, they're gone like they were never there. They even put little foam feet on all the furniture to make sure the carpet dried out properly underneath. <br />"

"We are a small co-op on the UWS. We searched for a neighborhood store which sells and installs quality carpet at a reasonable price, and chose Class Carpet. Class has everything we hoped to find on the UWS: a wide selection of reasonably-priced quality carpet; professional measurement and installation; and exceptional customer service."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Manhattan, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
