"While they were not the experts on my particular project, they contacted another company to confirm that they would work and then let me know. Very nice people that took time out of their day to help me out!"

"Awesome! Great work, kind man and his wife is great too. This family team really excelled at everything they did for us. Amazing looking new steps to blend with our current patio, beautiful new doors exceeding my desires, and more. John worked on everything quickly and efficiently like replacing all our door hardware, after moving in. I plan on having him back for several more jobs. Big or small his work ethic and quality are A ratings."

"Gary was a terrific service-provider from the first call forward.  Returned my request for service call promptly, met with me within days to look over the scope of the job, provided suggestions on the spot about the best way to repair what was wrong, was the only person that I brought out who recognized why rot took place at the back of the garage (faulty metal roof installation).
He gave a verbal, charge-by-the-hour estimate and stated an approximate week he would be free to tackle the job.  He came exactly when he said he would and in the span of about 2 and one half days started and finished the job.  He did as good a job on the wood repair (matching the trim, making sure to prime wood properly) as a carpenter would and he completely solved our roof issue by adding a metal stop to the back of the roof, underneath the original flashing (correcting what should have been done when the metal roof was initially installed).   He also did a wonderful job trouble shooting how to fix a decorative element in the front of the garage (a horizontal wood panel above the garage doors that gathered water from the vertical barn board siding above it).  He pulled and replaced that panel and put a drip cap type fix underneath it.
He is versatile and professional.  Worked with his father in-law on the job and had no discomfort doing a lot by tall ladder.  Did a terrific job cleaning up  by bagging all the discarded wood in heavy duty garbage bags so they could easily be placed out on the curb for garbage pick up.  Finally he also took the time to tell us that we had potential issues with carpenter ants.  Even saved the damaged wood so that my husband, who is an entomologist, could look it over and identify the type of ants.  His final price, although not inexpensive, was completely in line with the other 2 estimates I had received.  I certainly feel his work was worth it!

"The guy I met with was great from the company.  The person who came to do the work was not great.  Very nice but didn't show up the day I was told but came the next date.  That didn't really bother me because I didn't need to be home for it.  Just thought the overall work was ok to marginal at best.  The lattice work wasn't very good.  We couldn't afford the person I wanted to go with but know I regret the decision.

"It is with sincere enthusiasm and pleasure that we express our deep satisfaction with the renovation of a large part of our home by Hunter Construction Company. We worked hand in hand with Mr. Brad Holbert, the owner. He had a craftsman's view of exactly what was needed by way of design to have the renovation fit in perfect accord with our beautiful, old home. He was fast, efficient, and has an amazing eye for detail.
Ours was a large project but he kept control of all facets of construction and finished on time. We found Mr.Holbert to very pleasant and trustworthy, and anyone would do well to place their project in his Company's very capable hands.

"I would like to share with everyone how pleased I am with my decision to hire SRS Construction / Don Caudill. Our Kitchen and Home remodel was a major overhaul that required a lot of detailed planning and vision . SRS Construction / Don Caudill listened to my concerns and needs for the project and formulated a plan that by far exceeded my expectations. Don Caudill took detailed notes and created drawings and plans to submit to the county for approval. Once the plans were approved with a couple minor revisions SRS Construction / Don Caudill got to work on the project . Phase one of the project was to demo the old kitchen and family room and remove load bearing walls dividing the 2. This was a very delicate procedure involving temporary framing and support beams installed in the attic . SRS Construction / Don Caudill did a very outstanding job on completing this task and it easily passed a thorough building inspection. I was very happy with SRS Construction and Don Caudill."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse building service projects in Marion, OH

Most sheds larger than six feet by eight feet require a foundation to remain level and dry. A compact tool shed might get by without one, but anything heavier should sit on at least a 4-inch-thick stone-and-gravel pad that extends two feet past the walls. The gravel protects wood skids and promotes drainage. If you want maximum stability—and your budget allows—a poured concrete slab is the strongest option.

Your ideal shed size hinges on purpose. A common 10-by-12-foot kit gives you 120 square feet—plenty for lawn tools and bikes. Need just a spot for a mower and a few rakes? A compact 4-by-7-foot model should work. If you’re envisioning a workshop or hobby room, look at 12-by-16 feet or larger.

A good rule is to raise the shed floor four to six inches above the surrounding soil. That clearance encourages water to drain away instead of pooling beneath the structure. The simple step is especially important for wood floors and skids, helping deter rot, mold, and insect damage while extending the life of your new outbuilding.

Choose the route that fits your goals. Prefab sheds arrive in standard layouts and go up fast—perfect for basic storage on a tight timeline. Custom builds cost more and take longer, but let you add windows, wiring, plumbing, and unique finishes. Balance budget, features, and timeframe before deciding which type of shed is best for your needs.
