"Johnson and Sons did some basic remodeling and replaced a tub with a walk-in shower, plus floor replacement with tile. This was the second partial bathroom we had them do. Their best quality is their constant communication, you always know what's going on and when, and they are extremely responsive. Anything that we weren't happy about, they wanted the opportunity to fix and did. We had some hold ups with waiting for parts, but that was more about the lag time in being in the queue for busy contractors (and those parts being discontinued in the meantime), not negligence. They stuck to their estimate, no creeping up of costs other than things we discovered when the walls came down which were discussed with us first. I think the best recommendation is that we went back to them after the first job, and we'll ask them to bid again when it comes time for the kitchen!"

"I can't say enough good things about Chris. We had a general idea of what we wanted to do, but he really helped us explore ideas that we hadn't considered before. He was a great technical guide as well; explaining what would and wouldn't work. When he was doing the work, he was always on time, did an excellent job, always cleaned up at the end of each day, and communicated clearly and consistently. He made our remodel projects painless and it was a pleasure to work with him. We really trust him and plan on working with him on future products. I would recommend you call him for any work you want done."

"Nate allowed me to order my bathtub myself, which was nice. Lowe's failing to deliver when promised, was not. This delayed the start, and although it did take longer than I expected, everything came out great. They did not charge me extra after the water damage was exposed, which was a relief. One of the other estimates I got from a general contractor was for 3x as much, AND they planned to add on after the wall was opened. The bathroom specialists wanted 150% of what we paid, and I think we ended up with better results."

"Alex was hired to replace my water service line in Lake Stevens. He was very responsive, completed the work as planned and we had very limited water disruptions. I will recommend his company to others and keep him on speed dial in case we need plumbing services in the future. Great work Pete’s Plumbing!"

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Marysville, WA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
