"We did a partial rebuild of a brick and concrete stoop as well as some pointing and repair on steps, exterior walls, and hearth. Easily my best experience hiring a contractor ever. Communication was thorough and specific; I always knew project status and expectations. Brandon is friendly, super easy to work with, and shows love for and pride in his work. Work quality is incredible. Not only do my brick and concrete look better than ever before, I know from the detailed planning and regular updates that it's done "right" and made to last. I'm delighted that the first thing people see when they come up to my house now looks this good. Each day the site was left as clean as it was found -- no mess! My spouse was especially happy about that. I've already had unsolicited compliments from a roofer who had never been to my house on it, too: "This looks like you just had it redone, it looks amazing!" And they're right."

"Dan was very professional, provided good referrals to check out before hiring and thorough quote. He showed up on time and cleaned up the project before leaving each day. His knowledge allowed me to keep the original deck foundation and reinforce it before building the new deck with a composite surface and wooden/aluminum spindles rails. He also converted the steps from 5 to 6 thus making them easier and safer to use."

"Quality. If youâ re looking for a builder who emphasizes quality over anything else, look no further. Matt went above and beyond to ensure our home was completed to his standard which honestly was much higher than my own. Matt built our house cutting no corners and that was important to us at the time and after being in the house for several months, reminds us why we chose Wheelhouse over others. We bought an old home in an established neighborhood that needed expanding and updating. Wheelhouse literally took the roof off our house to add a second story and fully renovated our existing kitchen, living room, and other bedrooms. The old house received a facelift inside and out which substantially increased our curb appeal as well as market value of our home. Every one of the team members felt like family by the end of the project but just like family, weâ re happy to see them go too! They completed our work in a timely manner and in a way to not be intrusive to my familyâ s needs at the time. In the future, we would not hesitate to work with Wheelhouse again for other renovation or new construction needs."

"John was quick to come out and provide a quote to do both jobs.  We found his quote very reasonable so we accepted the estimate and discussed a start date.  John was upfront about the timing of these jobs as staining a deck in the winter is very difficult to do because the temps should be above 50 degrees overnight for several consecutive days as well as dry for consecutive days.  I had no problem with the expected timing/delays and was appreciative that he explained this and didn't want to rush just to get a job done.  For the first job, John completed the interior stone accent wall quickly in December and we have had nothing but compliments on this new addition.  As for the second job of staining the deck, that job was recently completed at the end of April but that was no fault of Johns.  As we know, the temperatures were lower this Winter and we received snow on several occasions making it basically impossible to start this job any sooner than he did.  Sure I would have loved for this to have been done sooner but the weather just didn't allow for that to happen.  John clearly understood the manufacturers specifications as to how the stain should be applied and he explained that rushing the job would sacrifice the quality of his work, something he didn't want to do and I didn't want him to do either.  In the end, it was wise to wait and the deck looks great.  I read some of the other reviews on here and all i can say is that i never had any communication issues with John (and there were a lot of emails and texts) and I felt he was very honest with me through the entire process.

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Mauldin, SC

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
