"I recently sought help from Dr. Flue to repair a gap that had formed where mortar around my chimney had apparently eroded over time. From first contact with their office, to the final visit and completion of the work, my experience with Dr. Flue’s staff was exceptional… They took time to understand the issue and provide me a simple cost estimate; scheduled a time to come out and shot me a reminder a couple days ahead of the visit; then showed up on time and prepared. Once onsite, they confirmed the work we had discussed would address the issue I originally reported. Then pointed out some significant chimney flashing issues I was unable to see from the ground. "The provider's work was just as estimated in terms of the extent of the job. Replacing a water heater that vented into an old (about 150 years) chimney knocked loose a lot of debris - it had probably never been cleaned. The access point was bricked over. They cut into the wall with minimal mess and noise for solid brick. They were able to clean out years of debris including bird and squirrel nest material. They patched some problem areas. They ran a new vent from the cellar up to the top and installed a new cap system. They prepped the pipes for the water heater and sealed up the area. It was a pretty messy job and they cleaned the area before leaving. A few bumps in the process meant the job took longer than planned but they completed the work thoroughly and as fast as possible. The job was not inexpensive, but the amount of labor and material required for this cleaning and repair was reasonable. <br />"

"I woke up to a cold house because the blower wasn't blowing. I called Kirkwood as soon as they opened, and the repairmen were there in little over an hour. A panel had burnt out, and because of the replacement cost and the age of the furnace, I decided to get a new furnace. In the meantime, the technician fixed the blower so that even though the blower never stopped, I could get heat. They were very clear in giving me my options, and I did not feel pressured or misled at all. I decided on a new furnace, and they were there the next morning to install it. This is not the first time that I have used Kirkwood, and I have found them consistently polite, professional, and honest!"

"From start to finish, the project went smoothly. I did have some wood that need to be replaced but this was not unexpected. 10-12 people showed up and finished in one day. They cleaned everything up. We only found a few nails. They took off Ray St. Clair installed Gutter Helmets and put them back on. This was basically free. Ray St. Clair wanted $1800 for this service (which is ridiculous). In the end, most of the gutter helmets worked but the front of the house. Ray St. Clair did have to come out to replace these at a cost of $500 (which is way less then $1800). They took photos of everything along the way. I did have other estimates that were a bit lower and Ray St. Clair was a lot higher."

The copper flashing was pulling away from around my chimney and looked like it was in need of repair or replacement. I had previously worked with another well reviewed roofing company on Angie's List that missed my scheduled appointment to examine my chimney flashing. So I was very pleased when Andrew from Gunner showed up exactly when promised, and I was quite fascinated with his use of a drone to take precise aerial photographs of the work to be performed from all angles - a rather tech savvy approach. Gunner provided a detailed estimate within hours, that was only 1/3 the cost of the estimate I ultimately received from that other roofer. Gunner Roofing completed the work on time, and did a very satisfactory job. This was a relatively modest project, but based on my experience, I hope to use Gunner Roofing when it comes time to redo my entire roof."
