"Mark was hired to remove a broken toilet and replaced with a new one Realizing the wrong toilet was ordered, he took upon himself to go shopping. Find the right toilet and install it. This took some of his valuable time away from him. He went above and beyond the call of duty I would recommend him to all."

"I called Ray at Polar because my elderly parents had a pipe problem over Chinese New Year. I wanted to make sure they were ok but I wouldn't be there for the repair. Polar was great about explaining the cost structure, giving an estimate for what seemed to be wrong but making us aware about possible complications. They charge by task/fix from a cost book, not by hour. In the end, they were amazing about communicating with me AND my parents, they were on time, clean, polite, and did a great job. The cost book thing felt transparent and convinced us that even if there was a bigger problem, we wouldn't be gouged unreasonably. It was great to feel like I could take care of my parents at a distance because Polar was so reliable."

"They came out on a weekend and we're our saving grace during one of the most frustrating experiences we've had in this house. We couldn't use any plumbing without flooding the basement with sewage, it was early stay at home days, and we felt like we would go mad. They showed up and gave us an price for replacing the broken pipe, and set in to work. They worked for the entire weekend essentially, staying extremely late at night and showing up early the next morning, and at one point driving far out at night to get supplies since their usual local place was closed (again, quarantine time) . The reason it took so long was because after opening up the floor to get to the end of the pipe to replace it they found more damaged pipes, and replaced those as well. By the end of it they had spent the entire weekend on a job they expected to only last an afternoon, had charged us not nearly enough for the amount of work they did, and fixed a leaking bidet we had for free for good measure. They also advised us to do camera scan to look for any other problems, which they couldn't do until the water drained out, and even did an initial mop of the basement (which, remember, sewage flooding). I'm honestly half convinced these people are magic helpful brownies or something, it's unreal how helpful they were! Somehow our drier which has not succeeded in drying clothes for over a year has started working in a single cycle since they left, despite the fact they didn't even do anything with it, and in fact specifically said they don't do driers and offered to recommend someone else when we mentioned it. Suffice to say, I cannot recommend them highly enough"

"A friendly and reputable father-and-son team. They did great work at a fair price. They re-tiled a bathroom floor and installed a new vanity and toilet. In the process, they discovered and repaired a leaking pipe with no fuss and at no extra charge. They are conscientious professionals, and I plan to hire them for other jobs."

"Issues with water heater (silt and brown water). Contacted ASTAR with this plumbing issue asking that a plumber be sent out. Sent HVAC tech who was not knowledgeable about this issue, although this is not to disparage the tech as he may be wonderful for HVAC. My husband told him he thought we needed new anodes but was not sure. Tech left and placed order for anodes. When the anodes came in, we received call with installation date and time - Tues 04/26/22, 12:00PM-5:00PM. Kept the afternoon free for the tech by scheduling an app for that morning. Monday the 25th, call from the original HVAC tech stating he would be here on the next day. I asked why they were not sending a plumber. Said he was trained in plumbing also, but I questioned why he could not diagnose the problem when he was here, and that I would like a plumber. Said ok, he'd let them know. My husband called later that same day with a question, and confirmed the time, 12:00-5:00. The following day, I was on my way out the door for a 10:00 app when my husband forwarded to me a text stating the tech was on his way. I called the office and reminded them that our app was for the afternoon and I was on my way to an app. Sorry, but he needs 3 hrs for the replacement of the anode so needs to come now. I reiterated that I was on my way to a 10:00 app and he needed to come at the stated and confirmed time. Again, sorry but he must come now and did not know why we were not informed. We could reschedule for next week. NO! I rearranged my day to accommodate them and I expected them there no earlier than 11:30, at which time I was sure I'd be back home. Put me on hold and another women answered who I believe was a supervisor. No idea I was being transferred. Explained again and was greeted with a condescending and patronizing attitude....I apologize for the inconvenience but he must come now, not at 11:30 or 12:00-5:00. No concern for the fact that we were never informed of their change in time, or that I would scheduled an app't that I now needed to cancel just minutes before my arrival time. In the long run, I was forced to cancel my app't in order to have the silty, brown water corrected as we'd been living with it for several weeks already. The plumber was very knowledgeable and professional, taking care of the problem. He spent time testing the water and filling the tub mid-way in order to visually see the problem (something the HVAC tech did not do. He merely ran an inch or so of water and said it was not happening for him, which wasn't true since I'd informed him that it happens when the tub is filled quickly to capacity, not just an inch or 2). Noah also called the mfg of the water heater in order to help diagnose the problem. No other issue with the water so far, but we will see as time goes by since our total bill was for well over $800. Noah is the only reason I am giving 3 stars. I also do not blame the original HVAC tech for not knowing how to diagnose as this was not his area of expertise, although I was still charged the $200 plus tax for a diagnosis. The office supervisor/manager was unprofessional; uncaring; patronizing, rather than making it right. For that reason alone, I would not recommend this company. Also, if you are having a plumbing issue, be sure to insist upon, and verify that you will have an actual plumber, not an HVAC tech."

FAQs for faucets, fixtures and pipes repair or replace projects in Middletown, NY

You can absolutely install an outdoor mixture tap outside your home. An outdoor mixer tap blends hot and cold water before it leaves the spout, giving you a steady temperature for rinsing produce, washing hands, or spraying down patio furniture. As long as a plumber runs both hot and cold supply lines and insulates them against freezing, a mixer outside performs just like the one in your kitchen.

Outdoor faucet handles come in twist, lever, or knob varieties, all designed to stand up to the elements while giving you precise flow control. They’re built from tough materials yet offer the same comfort and ease of use as indoor faucets. Ask your plumber for a selection and for recommendations on the best option for your needs.

Start by pinpointing the leak—often it’s a worn washer, a loose packing nut, or a damaged gasket. If it’s salvageable, replace the faulty part; otherwise, you may need a new faucet. Always turn off the water before starting repairs, and test thoroughly when you’re done to confirm you’ve stopped the leak.

You can protect your outdoor faucets during the winter months by shutting off the water supply to the outdoor faucet before freezing weather arrives and by always disconnecting any attached hoses. You can further safeguard your outdoor faucets against ice by insulating the pipe and installing a basic faucet cover.

An outdoor faucet can last 20 years, though budget models may wear out in 10, and high-end ones can push 30 or more. Proper installation, routine upkeep, and careful use help you get the most life from any spigot. Ask your plumber for maintenance and care recommendations to get the most from your outdoor faucet.

Replacing an outdoor spigot yourself might work if you’re handy, but a professional plumber guarantees code compliance, reduces the risk of water damage, and offers peace of mind. If you’re not sure about soldering or local regulations, it’s best to hire a licensed plumber for a lasting fix that you can feel confident in.
