Carmel had a bunch of extra requirements but eventually we got the permit with extra additions and Maynor himself did a great job handling the changes and keeping us in the loop! "I had the best experience with Mills Construction! The initial request was for repairs to my deck and several other small projects. I had been trying to get the work done for six months, but no other contractors would take the job because it was too small. Martin and his team were happy to do all my small projects! He adapted well to unexpected occurrences and would make a quick trip to the hardware store. They repaired my deck with brand new support beams and brand new rails plus my small projects: installing curtain rods, cabinet organizers, towel racks, closet post, 5 ceiling fans, replacing 2 faucets, and leveling my ac. "Paul did some minor drywall repair after we fixed a plumbing leak. He repainted the ceiling and the kitchen. Separately he repainted our front porch including stabilizing a porch post that had some rot at the base. Paul and his crew were polite, efficient, professional, and did excellent work. Everything was thoroughly repaired and prepared rather than just putting a pretty face over it. We were always informed of our options, what would happen, and when. "Researched Wood Renovation's reviews on Angie's List and noted it's high ratings. Requested an estimate from Steve, the owner. He was punctual for our appointment- provided insight into the deck's maintenance history (this home was purchased in Nov. 2009- prior owners provided no maintenance history- so, it is assumed the deck had not been maintained). Steve recommended the type of stain they will mix and customize for each job and type of wood. He provided his quote in writing and honored the Angie's List discount. I did not seek out additional estimates- hired Wood Renovation and scheduled the work. Steve was not present at the 2 day job- sent 2 emploiyees who washed the deck on the first day, then replaced several boards and were to secure others with screws or nails and stain the deck floor and steps up to the deck, as the railings are painted. Their truck was parked in front of my house in Fishers- they mixed the stain with water at/ near their truck location and reported they had "spilled a little" in the street. I was not presnet when this occurred, it was reported to me later. Whan I arrived home later in the afternoon, it was apparent that liquid matching the stain color of my deck had been spilled near my driveway and had trickled down, then pooled in front of my neighbor's driveway entrance. No liquid came in contact with anyone's private property- and the stain did not alter the asphalt, but caused discoloration. Other than being a little unsightly, I did not think any remediation was necessary, since the stain will fade/ wear away from constant traffic on the street (it is the only entrance/ exit to a cul-de-sac) and weather. However, my neighbors became livid regarding the stain- and alleged it was going to ruin an upcoming dinner event at their home in several weeks.They insisted the stain be removed or covered up, as it was detracting from the beauty of their house and landscaping- and the street's discoloration was unacceptable. The street is actually the property of the town of Fishers- it is not owned or maintained by the HOA. I accepted responsibility for the stain, although I did not see it happen and did not participate in the occurrence. After many, many phone calls and emails with the HOA and Steve, it was agreed that Wood Renovation would (at no cost) cover the stain with asphalt sealer. Wood Renovation applied it appropriately (in my opinion), and even though the street is highly travelled there are no tire tracks though the sealer and it is not messy. But my neightbors became infuritated because the sealer is black, against asphalt that is light gray and "became a sea of black". Since I have chosen to no longer communicate with those neighbors, I do not know if they are seeking additional remediation from Wood Renovation- I do know they met with the HOA Board to discuss this and complain. This was an unfortunate incident, which Wood Renovation truly did try to make right. However, I will not hire this company again for any wood staining or deck maintenance work. Regarding the deck, some of the stain did not "take" on some of the boards, although it is not real noticeable. And recently several of the boards seem to be warping and are becoming loose again."

"They did great. We had them clean our flowerbed and they pulled all overgrown dead weeds. They also trimmed trees and hauled it all way. They are knowledgeable. In fact I am using them again and they will probably come on March or April."

George was willing to work with the ideas that I had for building the fire pit and patio.  He was very responsive during the project when I would stop him and ask questions, or suggest a different way to do the layout and design.  The patio and fire pit turned out nicely.  On the lawn work - seeding, mulching, leveling - I felt that George was trying to get done and get to another job, and maybe didn't spend as much time and care as I would have liked.  If you hire him for a job, be aware that he is pretty much a one man show, and is sometimes slow to respond to emails and calls, and can get behind schedule quickly when the weather is bad.
