"We contacted Stephen (who replied almost immediately to my voice mail) about removing several appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, computer monitor) as well as a couple of old doors and some concrete blocks. We had a tight time frame, because we were getting some new appliances the following week, but we wanted to be without the fridge for as little time as possible.  Stephen came out the same evening to give us a quote.  He was very nice to work with.  We were originally going to have the fridge brought downstairs to our laundry room to be a second fridge, and Stephen was willing to move it for us.  But he noticed that the doorway to the laundry room seemed small, and when we checked we found he was right - the fridge would not have fit!  So we asked him to just take it away.  We made an appointment for the following Tuesday afternoon at 1:00.  I had to change the time at the last minute due to another contractor (who was supposed to cap off the gas connection to the dryer) not showing up, but Stephen was completely flexible - he said he would come out the next morning.  He showed up exactly when he said he would, and it took him very little time to get everything on his truck.  He was quick, and left no mess.  We were very happy, and would gladly use him again."

"It went great. We were in good hands with the Ranieri family throughout the entire project. They are extremely reliable, diligent about keeping us informed about the process, and deeply knowledgeable about concrete deck installation and pool installation and care. Our 30+ year old 20x40 inground pool had crumbling old pavers around it and the pool plumbing needed replacing before we could put a deck in. The Ranieris were a one-stop-shop for this work. They replaced the plumbing, installed a new skimmer box, and poured a gorgeous curved edged 10' patio on one side and 4' deck around the rest of the pool. They are excellent communicators, keeping us informed all throughout the process and coordinated directly with our electrician to get the new ground wire installed and permitted before they poured. No hiccups at all with this process. This work happened this spring 2022, so there were supply and delivery issues with concrete that are outside of the contractor's control. From our perspective, the wait wasn't too bad, and the Ranieris kept us informed every step of the way. Their work is both art and science. We love what they built for us. We would hire the Ranieris for any future projects, and we highly recommend them."

"I called for an estimate in early March and they came out promptly.  The guy took some measurements told me what to expect and gave me an estimate.  The price seemed a little high but I have no idea what it costs to raise concrete or cost of materials for the company.  The thing that sold me on them was the fact that they use a concrete slurry instead of just mud (hence the term mudjacking).  The estimator explained that they don't do mudjacking because mud eventually breaks down and you get the same problem again.  If you google the term mudjacking and read reviews like I did you will see a lot of people complaining about the problem returning.  So I liked the fact that CRC used concrete slurry rather than just mud.  I thanked him and told him I would call them when I was ready (scraped together enough money).
So I called them at end of April and sent in a deposit.  They scheduled me right away for the following week on Tuesday May 7th.  They called the day before and confirmed appointment for 8am the next day.  On Tuesday they arrived a little after 730a and started prepping their equipment.  Once they started drilling I could see what they were dealing with.  The slab was done poorly when it was originally poured.  It had varying thicknesses among the different holes which made me a little nervous on how successful they would be in getting the stairs heading down to the garage to come up with the slab.  The workers were nice guys, polite, but for the most part I left them alone to do what they had to do.  At one point, they rang the bell and asked me to come out and look at something.  When they had tried to drill through the top step heading down the garage it had cracked and split the whole step (tread and riser).  They tried a second hole and it split again.  The head guy explained to me that the original concrete on the stairs just wasn't strong enough to hold up to the stress of the drill (about a 2 inch bit) so that they were going to try their best to raise the stairs and drill every other step rather than 2 holes per step.  I agreed and they went to work.  About an hour later they were done.  The main slab came up great and filled the 3 inch void that was there prior.  The stairs on the other hand looked a little wonky.  For the most part they leveled out but that top step looked pretty bad with the cracks and it high on one side.  The head guy explained that they were sturdy and full of the slurry, but looking down on them, it looks like each step is going in a different direction level wise.  The crew cleaned up the mess pretty good but left some slurry blobs on the stairs and in the corners that I easily chipped away at and cleaned up myself a few days later.  My neighbor has an epoxy concrete finishing business and he's going to help me coat the surface of the slab and hide the patches from the drilling.  Overall a good experience, but I would have rated them a notch higher if those stairs came out better.  I know they can only do what they can do with someone else's poor work, but now I have to refinish that top step so it looks smooth.  Structurally the stairs are fine and I never use that entrance to my garage so not a big deal.

"We contacted Richard regarding the job, and had a quote back within the week - good quote.  He quickly responded to any questions  we had, and scheduled the work.  They completed the demo in one day, a few days before the cabinets showed up - if I had to do this again, I would hold off on the demolition until the cabinets were in, as it is difficult to live without a kitchen, especially with children.  It took approximately two weeks for the kitchen to be completed, with slight delays due to a damaged cabinet, time for the new countertops to set, appliance delivery, etc.  One hitch developed when the dishwasher was hooked up incorrectly, and water ran into my basement - I called Richard, and once I got through the answering service, he contacted the plumber, and we resolved the problem immediately over the phone, and the plumber was at my house at 8 the next morning ( a Saturday of a holiday weekend) to permanently fix the problem.  At the end of the two weeks, we had a great new kitchen, well installed, and we were thrilled!"

FAQs for concrete foundation installation projects in Monterey, MA

A concrete footer is a relatively shallow column of concrete that sits below your foundation walls. Footers spread wider than the foundation, so they can support a higher amount of weight in critical spots, such as below walls. The exact dimensions of footers depend on the home, so larger structures need a larger footing.

To calculate footing size, you need to know the minimum width and depth for houses in your region. Multiplying the width by the linear footprint of the structure will give you the size in linear feet.

To convert linear feet into square feet, you can divide the width by 12. For example, an 18-inch footer is 1.5 square feet per linear foot. Multiply this number by the total in linear feet to get the answer in square feet.

Installing a pier and beam foundation costs $5 per square foot, or $8,000 to $15,000. This style is standard in homes built before the 1960s or those in flood-prone areas.

Concrete weight support ranges from 1,500 to 6,500 pounds per square inch, and footings need at least 3,500 to 4,500 pounds per square inch. Remember that your soil type, climate, and materials used will significantly affect how much weight your footings can hold, especially in certain areas.

It costs between $1,600 and $3,200 to pour a 20-by-20-foot concrete slab. These estimates are based on an average cost to pour a concrete slab of $4 to $8 per square foot. Be sure to discuss the specifics with a pro—they’ll give you an estimate of how much you can expect.

The cost to raise a house is between $3,200 and $10,000. This range refers to a form of repair that involves lifting the entire house to potentially remove the old foundation and build a new one or add to an existing one.
