I used Angi to look up nearby contractors and A1 came up. They contacted me very quickly and when I acknowledged I needed service, they were on site within the hour! The end result is that they repaired my issue so that I can use the door again. To get to that point - they walked me through what they planned to do. Midway through the repair, they did ask to meet with me to recommend fully replacing all bars, springs, cables and tracks (for about $1600-$1800), but I declined as I was not ready to make that large a decision and may want to change the garage door in the future. There was a bit of back and forth on whether they would tighten the springs which were insufficiently wound, but they did in the end. I would work with them again. I'd prefer full discussion on what they can do to finish the requested job first."

"I thought the garage door opener would have a "light when it opens" but did not and i was not told before purchase, i thought it would obviously have "two remote openers" but it did not an extra charge and i was not told ahead of time, one of the "upper supporting brackets" for the new garage door opener replacement did not match and one was added for extra money and i was not told ahead of time, i miss the missing light every time i open the garage door, if the representative would have told me then i would have paid more money for a better model"
