"We’ve had a lot of crews in our home for various projects over the years, and I have to say this was one of the most courteous. They worked hard, navigating through our kitchen to access the basement and I really appreciated their efforts. Thank you MTU, we now have safe walls in our cellar and fresh beams to keep the house standing ;)"

"With a backed up septic system and family in-bound to stay with us for the week my stress level was through the roof. The first company that evaluated our septic problem quoted over $1200 just to dig up the tank and complete a more complete evaluation! We checked Angie's list and decided on Affordable Septic. Affordable Septic was very helpful on the phone and had a vac truck re-routed to our house with in half an hour. An hour later we had a newly empty septic tank which alowed us to at least use the toilets until the problem could be discovered. Affordable Septic got the required permits the next morning and were digging up the tank by 9am. The crew was very respectful of our yard and performed the most surgical trenching I've ever seen. Our grass top layer was placed neatly to the side for re-use, and the trenches were only as big as needed to locate the pipes. We had discussed possible reasons for the septic backup and were told that 75% of the time the problem is simply broken distribution box/pipes that can crack and fall-in over time. Sure enough, along with a few plugs and a couple roots our distribution box was replaced along with the two crushed concrete distribution lines. Affordable septic also vacuumed out the drain field to ensure there weren't any plugs out of sight. By 4:00 they had completed the work, backfilled the trenches, and replaced the sod. Aside from a bid of dirty grass, and toilets that flush, you'd never know that they'd even been there. The work crew was very friendly and willing to talk us through the process. We are very satisifed with the work and the final price."

"Western Construction Systems came out and did exceptional work at my house! They went above and beyond my expectations! They were friendly, professional, and hard-working! They took care of all the issues that I had concerns with and then some! Their prices were fair, especially for the high quality of work that they did! I know I pestered them with questions, but they were patient every single time. Before I contacted them to have the work done, I had high anxiety about the drainage issues. When they were finished, I felt confident that there were no more issues. Peace of mind is priceless!"

"Our garage sits at the bottom of grade, and water would come in the garage during a heavy rain.  The old drainage system no longer worked, and there was no way to dig a new drain.  So Pete drilled a four inch tunnel under the the house into the back yard. Then he pulled a 4 inch continuous plastic pipe through the tunnel!  Amazing to see.  I suspect it took more time and material than he planned, but he did not complain or raise the price.  Considering the equipment he brought, the price seemed more than reasonable. <br />"

"I had sewer coming up in my basement floor drain. I called several different companies and Vietzke was the only company that answered when I called. Brett with Vietzke was at my door step with in 45 minutes. He explained to me how roots may have entered into my pipes. I like that Brett used shoe socks over his work boots, that really impressed me. From start to finish he completed the task in two hours. He showed me all the roots in the line and recommended that I get it cleaned every year or get the pipe replaced. I will be calling Brett with Vietzke back anytime I need work in the future."

"They did a real good job. They were real professional. We can now open the garage door from the inside of the house and now it is so smooth that we have to check to see if we hit the button to open it or close it.  Before we used to know when it was opening or closing because it used to make a noise. It helps when you move to a city where you are new. "

"We are tenants in a rental home with an 18-year-old gas furnace. The furnace quit working in Feb 2022 and at that time another heating company was called by the property management company to evaluate. That company recommended the furnace be replaced and the owners chose not to do that. So, when the furnace quit working again on Dec 5th, the property management company called Beacon Heating to evaluate the situation. Thus, we were so blessed that Ian and Josh, technicians from Beacon Heating, came to our rental home to evaluate the situation around 11 AM on Wed Dec 7th. Ian contacted the property management company with detailed information and recommendations. The property management company contacted the owner but did not hear back from the owner until late in the afternoon. Once the property management company got back with Ian about what was approved by the owner, Ian and Josh ordered the parts, drove to pick up the parts in Kirkland and got back to our home around 6 PM. They were masters in replacing the two parts needed to get our furnace working again in less than 30 minutes! During those two service visits, they were always professional, explained what they found and what they were doing. Then, today I had some questions about the furnace. I called and left a message for Ian and he called me back immediately. He answered my questions clearly, patiently and expertly. In summary, Ian and Josh are over the top skilled, knowledgeable, honest and direct about their services and recommendations. My husband and I highly recommend Ian's and Josh's five start services to homeowners and tenants."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Moses Lake, WA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
