"Very happy with how thorough a job was done. We rented a house that the prior tenant had had cleaned by some cheapo outfit. He worked out of a minivan with what was one grade better than a rental machine, and half-a@@ed the job. Smith Bros came in and did a far superior job. They came before we moved in, so about a week after the other joker. Carpets that the rental agent said were “as is” due to stains, were cleaned to as near new as possible. It was my own dime, and it cost a lot of them. For 3 beds, big hallway, stairs, a small living room, and a 25x25 bonus room it was $500. A bit steep, but did twice as good as the other clown. And with 2 visiting grandkids on the floor, worth it."

"The work was done on time and to budget. The floors have never looked as good as they do now. We left town while the work was done, and when we returned, there was no chemical smell and there was NO DUST. Dan did a fantastic job; we will recommend his company to others, and we will use him again in the future. He even gave us information on which cleaning products to use and which ones to avoid."

"Mount Vernon Carpet One was the flooring contractor that was selected by our builder. I chose a medium grade carpeting for the bedrooms and a medium grade linoleum for the bathrooms and laundry room. Our giant splurge for the house was a rustic engineered oak hardwood for the rest of the house. I loved it in the store, and I loved it more in the house. As time went on, the floor begin to creak and make cracking sounds which sounded like walking on gravel. I called our builder and he came to the house and agreed that the floor was making unusual sounds. He called Larry at Carpet One Mount Vernon and I received a call that day. He scheduled a visit by Aaron who came that week. Aaron performed several tests, going under the house and using magnets to determine the spacing between the nails, etc. He was very courteous and most pleasant to deal with. Larry, the Manager, called me later in the day and explained that this investigative process would take some time, but that they would make good on the flooring, whatever the determination. I thought, oh sure they will. The manufacturer came to the house and did their own investigation. They determined that our wood burning fireplace caused a dry climate in the house and suggested a large humidifier to "swell" the wood back to its original position. We ran the humidifier for a month and there was a very slight difference in the creaking noise. At this point Larry called and said that the floor would be completely replaced at no cost to us. He ordered the floor and sent Mike, an extremely professional and knowledgeable installer. He showed up for work on time every day and did the demo and the new installation, using both nails and glue. He also was very careful about how he laid the pattern down, something the first installers (who no longer work for Carpet One) did not do. The floor is perfect! It is gorgeous and we could not be happier. Larry and his crew at Carpet One ARE number One in our book! I would not hesitate to recommend them for any flooring work. It was disappointing that the first floor did not work out, but to find a company that will back the product they sell is a rarity in today's marketplace. Thank you Larry, Aaron and Mike....you guys rock! Bob and Lydia Van Diest"

"Excellent no pressure sales. Gave me multiple options for redoing the flooring in my condo. They were able to work with my schedule since I in the process of moving and currently live out of town. The installation was professional and they left the condo looking like new. Will hire them again to do additional wood flooring in the future."

"Todd and his workers were great. He looked at our kitchen, laundry room and half bath and drew up two designs gave me two options for remodeling. He worked in my budget and gave me options of how to keep prices lower and did not pressure me to overspend (I painted myself and his workers, were very gracious about working with me in order to save some money). He managed to get everything I hoped for in budget and did not go a penny over.
He had somethings contracted out (our floors were a floor he hadn't installed before and he wanted it done by someone who had). Todd's employees found some errors on this and he was quick to have them back out to fix the job and I found he was very quick to realize if there was a problem and make sure it was corrected.
I also had an instance where there was a miscommunication on the flooring where the wrong floor came in (much of it being my fault), Todd was very firm on me not settling and making sure I got what I wanted. He was patient with me as I made the decision and made sure I was doing what was going to make me happy even if it pushed the schedule back.
The workers, Brad and Evan who came to our house were so polite and conscientious. They were timely and patient with both me and my children.
Todd worked with a very small space and made it look so much bigger and so much better. People are amazed at what has been done and how good it looks and our family is thrilled! "

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Mount Vernon, WA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
