"Arizona Tile came on June 14th for my hardwood install and the 15th for my carpet install. The wood installer arrived at 10:00ish and took a lunch and checked on another job. When he got back to my place, he worked until 6 and said he’d come back on June 15th to finish. I’d paid for furniture removal in the wood install room and he forgot to put my bed back together. When he returned on June 15th, he sincerely and profusely apologized. The carpet install happened quickly, but the installer forgot to leave access to my crawl. He also left a pile of carpet debris in my driveway. The wood installers finished by late afternoon. Both installers were very friendly. The removal of my old carpet stirred up a great deal of dust despite my thorough vacuuming of the carpets prior to installation. While I now know that carpet that has been down for an extended period can stir up a great deal of dust, no one informed me of that prior to installation, therefore, I didn’t prepare appropriately for the dust storm that occurred in my home. Considering Arizona Tile is a premier flooring company in Springfield, I would have thought they would have informed me. I could have taped off my dresser doors, removed curtains and wall hangings from my bedroom, sealed my bathroom cabinets with plastic and tape, removed open tissue and makeup brushes, and wrapped and sealed my mattress and white upholstered headboard in plastic. There was so much dust (I have no idea how long the carpet had been down prior to me purchasing the home) I had sinus/allergy trouble. When the wood installer finished on June 15th he forgot to put some heavy totes back in my closet-again, I paid for these items to be moved. He also ripped a layer of my drywall when removing my baseboards and the carpet installer left a dent that exposed unpainted drywall on my freshly painted wall. I went to Arizona Tile on June 18thto inform them of these happenings. The sales clerk was very sympathetic, apologized that my sales agent and the owners were gone, and told me I’d get a call by Friday of that week. No one called me. I called on June 26th and the receptionist told me they decided to let my sales agent handle the situation when he returned the following Monday. She acted as if she had no information about me needing the carpet installer to cut out access to my crawl and wanted the details all over again. My phone was about to die, so I told her I’d call back to provide those details again. However, the situation was already upsetting me so I decided for the sake of my blood pressure and head, I would wait for my sales agent to call me upon his return from vacation on July 2nd. I did not receive a phone call back - finally, I called on July 6th. In the end, the carpet installer came out to provide me access to my crawl and my sales agent took 10% off my bill. At one point while we were talking, he seemed a bit aggravated with me, especially when I discussed not being educated by him about the amount of dirt that can be stirred up from carpet removal and questions I had about options for the crawl access. The carpet installer did come back out to cut out access to my crawl, and he apologized for forgetting. The hardwood floors and the carpet were installed well and look beautiful in my home. However, from my experience, I will not return to Arizona Tile. I felt like they didn’t really value me as a customer, and they need to improve their communication practices. I must admit, I wonder if they responded to me in this manner because in the scope of things I had a small order."

"We've used All Pro for carpet cleaning as well as duct cleaning. They are reasonable and do quality work. Ben and staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to water damage and restoration. Due to water damage, we had to install new flooring. Ben assisted us with the restoration process. He also has a beautiful showroom of new flooring. We've purchased carpet for our living room, halls and 2 bedrooms and vinyl plank tiles for our foyer, kitchen and laundry area. We're very pleased with our results!"

"This could have turned out to be an awful experience, but it was great.  Bill came in and found a disaster under one of my bathroom floors: leaking pipes and rotted support beams.  It took him the two days he had scheduled to install the floor, but he repaired my pipes, beams, re-did my subfloor and re-installed my shower base.  He worked me in over the next couple of weeks to get the tiling done, which I appreciated.  He kept his committments to his other customers and finished my home too.  I respect that.  He did a great job cleaning up and I am still thrilled about my new floors.  they are gorgeous, level!! I couldn't be happier! <br />"

"Mike did the vinyl work in 2 baths including removing/replacing toilets, prepping subfloor, applying thinset, and installing vinyl. Very focused on getting the promised work done in one day and very receptive and helpful when I asked about some details such as products used. Quality 100%, cleanup 98%. I decided to have a vinyl landing installed in the family room and he worked that in as well for a small fee. Both brothers and a friend came for the carpet installation. Quality 98%, cleanup 95%. Returned quickly when I called about a closet folding door not replaced correctly, and fixed it. I can't even see where the Congoleum repair was made, it's that good. They seemed interested in doing a good job. They like to have the radio on, but it seems to help them work faster, so I didn't mind (smile)."

"This is the third time that I have paid a company to fix my ceiling fans and closet doors. Low and behold they are truly finally fixed. The second company was an established company in springfield and they were terrible. Mr. James came and gave me an estimate for the work I needed done and started on the work that evening and was back the next day to complete the job. Not only did Mr. James do the work in a timely fashion but left my home very clean as opposed to how the other company left my home. Mr. James recommended a solution for a problem with trim in my house and fixed the problem which the other company said they were no able to do. I would highly recommen Mr. James for any home improvement problems. He was not only very professional but priced very reasonable and the work done was excellent. Mr. James will not only do your work needed but he will be very punctual, professional and leave you very pleased with his work. Really call him now. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Mount-Auburn, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
