I have only had a leak about 2 or 3 times but they have come back to fix it each time. I know that leaks are to be expected since the caulking wears down and isn't as effective over time. "When we started, we did not know if we would rent it again full time, keep it for ourselves, sell it or go for a seasonal rental. When we saw the finished product, we knew we would not be selling. It went seasonal, and quite successfully. We are now enjoying it in the off-season and LOVING IT!!! Keith and his crew were most pleasant to deal with, and considering that this was a long-distance reno for US, things went quite well. <br /> The reasons for the lower mark for responsiveness was due to some difficulty getting in touch with him. Keith always got back to me, but not always immediately. Punctuality dealt with the length of time for the entire reno. We started @August, 2013 and were not finished until May, 2014. I know that part of that is due to his very busy schedule. Because the house was empty, I'm sure that his priorities were elsewhere sometimes. I do understand that, but I wish that it had taken less time. I left keys with him, and there was never a trust issue with Keith or any of his workers. THAT is very important to me! <br /> If we need more work done I would definitely use him again (although there's not much else he could do!). "In late August, I invited four different companies to give me quotes on exterior siding replacement and roofing. The companies I invited were from Angie's List. DH Construction (Brian) came out and surveyed my house. We walked around and he told me what he saw that needed repair and what he recommended I do. I asked him to prepare an estimate as i did with the other three. <br /> <br /> Most estimates came in about the same price range. Brian was the most forthright in how he planned to do the job, what materials he recommended, the cost of repairs outside the scope of his estimate, etc. He said that he most strongly recommended Hardiplank and primed only. He told me the type of paint he would use, the warranty he provides with painting, and discussed the other materials he uses on the job. <br /> <br /> I selected DH Construction based on his openness and the good reviews on Angie's List. Also, he told me that it was a family business and how he had pride in the quality of workmanship they do. Since I was also putting a new roof on the house, we discussed who should come first. It was concluded that siding goes up first. We scheduled the job and he arrived on that day.  <br /> <br /> The job took approximately four weeks, with rain in between. We found some structural damage under the siding. He quoted me a price to repair the two areas. Since the estimate was slightly higher than actual work, Brian offered to complete other wish list items for the difference. That showed high integrity and openness. Overall, the new siding, the repairs of the structures, new window sills and fascia boards plus the exterior painting were of the highest quality. Where ever I found some slight: "missed" spots, they corrected everything. And the job came in on budget. <br /> Finally, the painters were excellent and most concerned about their quality of work. I used a contractor they recommended for new gutters and downspouts, and they were excellent.  <br /> <br /> Two recommendations I made to Brian: 1) Start earlier than 8:30am;  Take advantage of available daylight. I don't mind. and, 2) Really cleanup each day and especially when they finish work right before the weekend. When I brought to their attention, they were over right away and cleaned up any materials left in the yard. <br /> I found the workmen to be courteous, trustworthy and concerned about what I thought of the job. And, when I texted Brian, he always got back to me right away."

"A+ across the board! Excellent experience - I highly recommend Locklear Construction. My experience with John and his wife Karen was the best experience I have ever had working with a home contracting/construction company. John is a master carpenter and has expertise in all aspects of home building, repair, and maintenance. His wife Karen is an excellent communicator and manager, always contacts you, follows up on all emails and phone calls, and explains the cost and timing of when things can be completed. With the work they did for us, every phone call, email, or text message was promptly returned. Every project came in at the cost they estimated or less. Every project that was done was repaired or completed to our utmost satisfaction. The house and yard were completely clean of all debris when each project was completed. Also, there were a couple of items where there was a "deadline" because renters were coming and Locklear Construction completed all of the projects, and honored their commitments to ensure that the projects were done before the renters arrived. What I know to be true based on my experience is that when John Locklear looks you in the eye and says he can do the job, it costs this much, and he can have it done by this date....that you can trust him and count on it. My opinion is that Locklear Construction is honest, dependable, authentic, and highly skilled at what they do. It is so rare to find this combination of company, and people these days.....we plan on using them for all of our projects and property maintenance in the future. I highly recommend them. I also attached 2 pictures. One picture shows the new cedar shakes for the sunroom, and the other picture shows the new captains ladder that was completely built from scratch with wide steps, etching in the steps to grip it easier, hand rails, and securely anchored to the loft."
