"Purchased a house (10 years old) in Draper that had carpet my wife described as "hideous". Shopped around with two other service providers, and settled on Kay Riley and Sons. My wife had had previous experience with them, and they also had good ratings from Angies List, so I was pleased. In total, replaced 176 sq yards of carpet, with new pad also. Carpet quality is excellant. Price was very good, also. Carpet layers did a great job, even did some repairs for us on the squeaky stairs. Overall, a great experience! Great people to do business with. <br />"

"We called Best Bet and spoke with the owner, Joe Black, on a Tuesday. After giving us an estimate over the phone, he scheduled us for Friday of that same week. My wife and I could not be happier with the final result! <br> <br>Joe showed up when he said he would - a big part of the battle with so many contractors and service companies. He replaced the carpet pad in the area in question, re-installed the carpet, and cleaned it. The whole process took less than a few hours. On top of this, Joe also repaired a few small sections of carpet where our puppy had gone a little crazy - and wouldn't accept additional $$ for the additional work!! <br> <br>We would absolutely, without reservation, recommend Best Bet Carpet Systems to anyone in need of an install, carpet cleaning or other services the company offers."

"Gabe showed up right on time (even a little early). He was incredibly friendly and nice and I felt completely at ease with him in our home. He worked hard and explained what he was doing, which I liked. Our carpets look much better and our house doesn't smell like cats anymore!"

"Just can't say enough about the great experience we had with Soren (owner operator).   We just got so sick and tired of mediocre results with the big box stores.  We always hated when the carpet was "pushed hard" on us only to have it wear down quickly or discolor over a short time.   Called Soren and he answered plenty of questions on the phone about prices and a rough idea of what we were looking for on our first call.   <br /> Soren came out for a quote and went back to the shop,  ran the numbers and called with the quote.   Thought the quote was fair but we had been through so much bait and switch with the big box places, that we went up into the showroom really guarded, with hands in front of our faces like a boxer.  LOL.    After my wife and I spent time describing what we were looking for out of a carpet, Soren showed us plenty of samples and styles and we decided on a nice nylon carpet that fit our budget.   <br /> One of my favorite parts of the experience was getting honest advice from him on what we needed and FINALLY we got advice from a carpet pro that didn't involve buying "the more expensive option".   Example.  We still were clueless on padding.  I mean who really knows what the heck to get when choosing a carpet pad??!!!!!  You immediately think "buy the thickest or more expensive" but Soren talked to us about buying a less expensive product that would actually give us a better feel when walking on it over the  concrete flooring.    <br /> Install went great and Soren even asked his installer to do the install over 2 days so that we could basically jam all our basement stuff to one end,  then after a half install, we shoved everything over to the other side and it went perfect!!  We thought we were going to have to hire movers to get the heavy pieces upstairs and it was stressing us out.   Just no way The Depot etc. would allow that.  <br /> Well let me tell you the carpet looks amazing and feels better than our upstairs carpet now.  LOL.    <br /> Bottom line, you may be able to save a couple bucks with RC or the others, but take it from a family that has gone through several installs and lots of crummy carpet over the 13 years we lived in this house,  there is NO comparison in using an owner operator compared to huge companies/sales people that really don't give a crap about you in the end.    <br /> Thanks again Soren!!  Soon as the budget allows, the upstairs is up next!  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We went here because we were finishing a room in our basement and they had cheap remnants that included install. The employee they sent to install the carpet was on time and did a good job. The thing I didn't like was that he told me the store had forgotten to include a charge for one thing and he needed me to write out a check for it. So I wrote out an extra check. I would have liked to have known that I could be charged extra over what I had paid. A few months later the carpet wrinkled up. Ogden's Carpet had guaranteed the install on it, so they came back and stretched the carpet again. Overall they were a good company to work with, they just get a B on price for the employee charging me more."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Salt Lake City, UT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
