"I needed a new roof due to animal damage right before Winter and David Flores came out immediately to give me a quote. The price was in line with other quotes and Green Valley was able to get the roof done in three days, one day before the first snowfall of the year. In the Spring they came out and double checked the roof to ensure it was in good shape since the snow had covered it. Then later when the satellite company moved my dish and damaged the roof David came out the same day I called and got it repaired. I would highly recommend Green Valley."

"The initial contact was good and the price was fair. So they started the work and replaced the flat roof which went well. Then when they started on the chimney they found they would need to remove some of the roof to access everything which would be some additional cost. I agreed to this and they started the work but then there were delays and communication issues for over 2 months. They ended up not completing the job and leaving me high and dry to complete it myself."

"Everything about this roofing experience was excellent. The sales rep explained exactly how they would repair a poorly applied rolled roof. He proposed a very reasonable price {compared to another estimate} which I accepted. Their crew arrived on time, stripped the old roof off, and then were very deliberate and thorough in preparing the roof for application of the membrane and interfacing shingles. Their attachment method will absolutely prevent the type of failure experienced with the old roof. And, I was literally shocked that I was not required to make final payment until a company rep visited to inspect the job and ensure that I was satisfied. Overall, great experience"

FAQs for natural slate roofing repair projects in Muscatine, IA

If more than 30% of your slate roof is damaged, it's time to consider a full replacement. This will prevent further deterioration and avoid costly recurring repairs. A professional slate inspection (costing between $130 and $360) can confirm whether repairs are sufficient or if a full roof replacement is the better option.

A slate roof can last anywhere from 60 to 150 years, depending on factors like installation quality, regular maintenance and repairs, and local weather conditions. Compared to materials like clay and concrete, which often last around 50 years, a well-maintained slate roof offers superior longevity, durability, and long-lasting aesthetic appeal.

Yes, you can use temporary patch solutions, such as roofing cement or patchwork, to provide immediate relief for minor leaks or underlayment issues observed from inside your home. However, these provisional fixes do not replace the need for a permanent, professional exterior repair, which is necessary to ensure the long-term integrity and weather resistance of your slate roof.
