"I have bought carpet and vinyl from Sam and Janice for both my home and business. This time I went for help with carpeting for my 90 year old Aunt. Not only did Sam do the measuring, but he helped me pick out the new carpet for her. The installers, Miguel and assistant, did a good job too. I am happy with their service and products once more."

"The carpeting looks great. He also left me the leftover pieces of carpeting so that I could use it to repair carpeting in the room if I ever need to. He was very professional and punctual. I am very happy with the work and would use him again."

"Selection was excellent and prices were fair. Installation did not go well, and as a result, carpeting had to be replaced. The owner went unbelievably out of his way to make sure the fix was appropriate, including personally supervising the replacement. He felt worse about the problem than we did! Weeks later, he's still apologizing....I no longer answer the phone! To us, the true measure of a quality operation is how problems are solved, and this company is the best. Will definitely use again, and recommend to others."

"We recently used Floor Coverings International to replace carpeting in our home. It was a great experience from start to finish. Everything was handled professionally and in a timely manner. Robert was very helpful when he came out the first day to walk us through the process and to take measurements. Dave and his crew did a great job as well. Michelle kept us updated and informed. Michelle let us know when the carpet was ordered and when it was to be installed. The installation of the carpet went well. They were very professional and cleaned up the areas very nicely. It was a pleasure working with this company and all their workers. We will definitely be using their services again!"

"This was the second time that I used them. They were prompt, and the work was really great. When I showed it to tenants after the carpet was replaced, they were pleasantly surprised because it looked nice. There weren?t any snags or any strings hanging out. There was no mess for me to clean up, which I appreciated. They paid attention to detail and were good on their word. Their price was consistent and fair. My husband negotiated the price with them. It was at least a couple of thousand dollars because it was for a huge two-story apartment. I got what I paid for; if I had wanted fancy carpets, I would have had to pay a little bit more, but I got a commercial type one, which was fine for what I needed. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary."

"I had a quote to remove carpeting, tack strips, and tacks, and to sand and finish the floors for $970.00. The worker cut the carpet incorrectly and cut it too far into one of the carpeted bedrooms, beyond fixing or camouflaging. His suggestion was that he remove floor boards and replace them with new boards to match the adjacent room, at my expense, and with esthetically questionable results. I decided instead to let him remove the carpeting from the bedroom and sand and refinish that floor, in addition to the dining room and hallway. I wasn't happy, but I agreed because something had to be done to correct the error the workman had made. The results were largely what I expected except for the bulky, large threshold "transitions" between rooms that looked out of place on a wood floor. When I contacted the company I was told that the "transitions" used were normally what they use for carpeted floors, but that they were out of the flatter ones which they preferred to use with wood floors. During this time I did not receive a bill, but I did get a phone call asking me where my payment was. The bill had been sent for some reason to a different rental property address and was for $1,320.00, $550.00 more than the original quote. I was being charged full price for refinishing the additional room, the bedroom where the workman had cut the carpet in error. I was also being charged $190.00 for "transitions", which had not been indicated on the quote. I wrote to Max Care, indicating my dissatisfaction with being charged full price to fix a mistake the workman had made and for the "transitions" which were not part of the quote. I received a response telling me that the quote hadn't included the "transitions" because I hadn't requested them at the time of the quote, and as for the extra bedroom, they did "not see any notes regarding the additional room". I used Max Care as a result of multiple recommendations from neighbors. The work itself was largely acceptable, but in my opinion the service was not. When a professional comes to do a quote, if there are accoutrements and accessories normally associated with the type of refinishing, they should be mentioned. I would have had no way of knowing that "transitions" would not be part of the refinishing., and I wasn't expecting to be charge almost $200.00 more for them. Additionally, the transitions used weren't appropriate, but they were evidently what the company had available at the time. I'm also unhappy about being charged full price to refinish a floor I would not have had done except for an error the company made. All in all, I will not recommend Max Care. I also suggest that whoever people use for floor refinishing, they ask about thresholds or "transitions" when getting a quote."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Muskego, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
