"I bought a new home and we knew that there was some plumbing issues that we wanted to get someone working on right away. Before we got moved in we had Billy and Howard come out to put in the kitchen sink in and to fix the leak in bathroom sink. When they arrived, they realized that I had ordered the wrong size kitchen sink. They were incredibly gracious about my mistake and went above and beyond duty to help get the right measurements and to talk me through what I should be looking for. We moved into the house on Tuesday. On Friday, after shower and a load of laundry I noticed water coming up out of the main drain. I am a first time homeowner, I had no idea what that meant. I did another load of laundry after mopping up the floor and confirmed that the water was coming up from the drain, not coming from the washer. I called and got Chris to come out to take a look at it. Chris could not have been more kind, more reassuring, and quick at solving problems (and there were several, like the previous owner cementing over the access drain). I cannot recommend this company enough. As a person who knows nothing about plumbing, I was really impressed by how well Billy, Chris, and Howard were able to explain what was happening, what my options were, what the risks were, and frankly that they were able to do all of that without a tinge of condescension. McDonough's Services returned my call the same day I called them, and scheduled cleaning the pipe(s) the following day. I received another call the next day confirming someone would be out, and the technician called shortly after that to let me know he would be arriving within an hour, which he did. Chad was personable, and started the job right away.  He cleaned the pipes--to make sure they were clear--but he thought the major problem was the old cap he found lodged inside the pipe; this lodged cap prevented the water from draining properly and so the water backed up from our drain into our laundry room.  Chad said the cap was difficult to get out.  We are very grateful he found it as our laundry room flooding situation has been going on for a long time.  We were very pleased with McDonough?s Services, and would definitely hire them again.

"Jon was responsive via email which I prefer. I know that many contractor types are not into email, but it is much easier for me than stepping out of a meeting and playing phone tag with someone. We were still trying to schedule something but he contacted me and asked if I was available for an opening they had that day (It was a holiday so I happened to have the day off). They arrived on schedule. They made a point to put on boot covers in my house. They looked at the work and gave me a quote quickly. One of the best things about this company is that they have a flat fee-based pricing system. They have different categories based on how complex the job is. My project was a "Level 2" so it was about $150 for each valve. This includes parts and labor. I have found over the years that businesses that charge for labor hours tend to land at very arbitrary fees. Projects can become very expensive very quickly. They finished the work but advised me that they discovered the main water shutoff valves were corroded and failing. He strongly advised me to replace those as without them I would have to rely on the city to turn off my water in the event of a water emergency or if I wanted to do work. This was at an additional cost but I decided to do it as I was aware of the problems this could cause. They were able to get the city out to turn off the water at the street shutoff and got the work done within an hour. They covered my floors with mats to protect them as they had to take frequent trips in and out of the house. All in all, I was very satisfied with the quality and professionalism of their work. I would definitely use them again in the future."
