Customers say: Quality work

"From the estimate, where they didn’t try to push for additional work, through the tedious permit process in a part-time town during COVID, to final inspection, Hockenbury Electrical was nothing but professional. Not to mention they came in under budget. Five stars."

Customers say: Quick response

"Excellent. They came within the window of time they scheduled. The electricians were professional and courteous. They kept me updated during the process. They respected my home by putting down drop cloths and cleaned up after themselves to a very large extent. They repaired the walls with Sheetrock in the areas they cut Sheetrock out which was the deciding factor that made me choose Electric Power. Some companies do not repair walls after opening them up. The cost was a little lower compared to other quotes I received. Would certainly use them again. Jeff M."

"I recently had electrical work done by Brett and was extremely impressed with the service he provided. He arrived right on time and carried himself with complete professionalism throughout the entire job. Brett’s knowledge and expertise were evident—he diagnosed the issue quickly, explained everything clearly, and completed the work with great attention to detail. His pricing was fair, transparent, and very reasonable for the quality of service he delivered. It’s refreshing to work with someone who is honest, skilled, and reliable. I highly recommend Brett for any electrical needs. I will definitely be calling him again in the future."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in New Brunswick, NJ

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
