"I had already picked out carpeting and needed an installer to tell me how much I needed to order. I had one installer give me a quote and I questioned the amount of carpet he said to order. That was when I went on Angi and thankfully, Josh came to my rescue. He came to my house, measured the job I wanted to have done and the amount of carpet he said to order was much less than the first recommendation. I needed someone to make area rugs out of rolled carpet and a runner installed on stairs. Josh was extremely helpful and efficient in planning and scheduling my job. The installers were excellent, friendly and polite and went above and beyond to ensure I was very happy with the job. They were very meticulous in laying the area rugs and cleaning up any fibers and debris left behind when they were done. I will definitely be using and recommending Advanced Flooring N.Y., LLC in the future."

"One of the owners came to the house and provided an accurate estimate. He helped me to select a carpet of good quality that was reasonably priced. He didn't try to steer me to the most expensive carpet. The installer left the house very clean and the work is flawless. The carpet looks even better than I had hoped. A few days after the installation was complete, the owner called to make sure that I was satisfied. I would recommend them and use them again. <br />"

"Bob and James arrived on time and worked diligently until finished. Our stairs are old and due to some variations in construction each step had to be measured separately and the vertical vinyl trim individually cut to size. Bob installed the steps and James measured every single vertical section to exactly fit the stair trim. Both the sizing and color match came out perfectly and the installation exceeded expectations. Bob and James are highly skilled at their craft and we have used them many times in the past as well, with excellent results. Thanks Bob and James!"

"Anthony & his brother first installed hardwood flooring throughout our downstairs. They did such an excellent job that we had them come back & install hardwood flooring upstairs (including 14 steps) They were on time, clean, and very professional. Anthony, the owner, was wonderful to work with. We would definitely recommend him."

"We recently had new carpets installed in our home and they came out beautifully! I was beyond impressed with Don and his team. When we ran into a black mold issue, Don was quick to recommend who to reach out to for help and what would be in our best interest. He was professional and friendly and really helped to ease our minds at such a stressful time. I cannot say enough good things about Carpet One, we will definitely be returning for future home projects!"

"I had a problem with the freezer that they delivered so they sent out the contractor that they contract with and it turned out to be my electrical; it had nothing to do with the freezer. They were very good about it. The only reason they charged me was because they had already opened the machine and everything before they figured out what the problem was; it wasn't them but it was the contractor that charged me. They said that they wouldn't have charged me if they had not opened the machine. They were very fair. They are not contractors but a store, a retail establishment. It is a very good place. Everything has been positive with them. I first went there because I wanted to see the place. They sell a wide variety of things like appliances, furniture, flooring, lighting and something else that I forgot. It is a huge showroom and one of those places which is almost like a destination. It is just fun to walk around and look at things. When I spoke to the salesman I realized that even though they are a family owned business they belong to a number of buying groups. People would expect a store like this to be expensive but actually they are not. They are quite reasonable. I can go right online and check their prices with the big furniture stores or whatever is appropriate. I have always got a good price from them plus I get the merchandise that goes to the private sellers rather than to the big back stores which is sometimes a little better in quality. I have been very happy with everything that I have purchased from them and I find them very knowledgeable in terms of knowing their products. They are very helpful. I am in the process of moving and one of their salesmen spent a great deal of time with me in spite of the fact that he knew I could not buy it from them. The staff members there I think might even be decorators because they are certainly very good and sell tiles and things like that. I have worked with them in the past and don't know if they are trained as decorators or not but they have that knack anyway. It is a lovely place to shop and sometimes they have food. I just never know when I go in there what an interesting experience I will have. I found their service to be impeccable. They installed a floor for me and are the retailers for a buying group for carpets. It was fiber glass floor which was put in my kitchen; I have been very happy with it. I was totally impressed by the installers with regards to how much they knew about installation and how confident they were about everything. Their prices are absolutely nice and they give me coupons as well. Once people become their loyal customers they start getting more coupons. I have been very impressed with them."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in New-Baltimore, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
