"The technician opened the access panel in a bedroom closet to access the tub drain. The drain had a drum trap and the cover that had not been opened apparently since 1995 as labeled. It would not come off so he had to pry and chisel the lid off. This was impressive stuff. After snaking the pipe and removing the obstructions, he put on a new rubber drum trap plug / cover / lid. It was $165 for them to come out and a total of $230. The technician also talked with us extensively about all of our other drains--giving us good advice. Note that hair can be dissolved with some liquid / gel / foam products though there are environmental concerns about this. Also, if possible, hair should be kept out of drains with a drain protector hair catcher/strainer/snare. We called Root-o-matic again when the two drains in our basement overflowed and left puddles of sewage and water. After finding the sewer was draining slowly and causing the basement to flood in the evening, we stopped heavy use of the drains (no showers, dishwasher, baths, minimal toilet flushing) and mopped up the water / sewage and then mopped with bleach. We called Root-o-matic at 8:00 am when they open and they came that morning. The sewer line to the street was draining slowly because of some small tree roots that had grow in to it. He used 4" and 6" knives. He was professional and helpful. $265. Many people in this area report having their sewer cleaned once a year to prevent roots from invading. I also plan to install a flood water and overflow alarm / basement watchdog water sensor that beeps loudly (like a smoke alarm) if water comes out of the basement drain so we can catch it as soon as it starts happening in the future. We were very pleased by the responsiveness and professionalism and kindness of Root-o-matic. Total for both jobs: $495."

"<p>After arriving as schedule I explained the issues that were occurring and he assessed the problem which I agreed with since I had already tried what I could with what was available for the general consumer. He uncapped the drain cap, turned the water on until it backed up in the floor drain then shut it off and proceeded with the claw auger on the snake to 100' which unclogged the drain somewhere along the way, he then ran the double sided auger blade that is about the size of the pipe again 100' to insure that it would be clear. We then filled the bathtub half way, basement sink, bathroom sinks and let them all drain at once, we also flushed all toilets mind you all at the same time to insure that the pipe was clear (it better be) and to flush the drain completely.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>Needless to say it was clear with no back up with the amount of water that was running down all drains. It was the best $168.00 I has spent in a long time! As a home owner you would understand this when you have been trying to do this yourself for about 2-3 weeks with out success.</p> <br />"

"The plumber's name that worked on my drain was Wes. He came in the house the first time with paperwork and inspection tools. He came down to the basement to look at the clogged floor drain. I used a sump pump to clear the standing water so he could see the drain. He told me what needed to be done in detail and had me sign the paperwork authorizing him to clear the clogged drain. I signed it while he went to his truck to retrieve the snake. He brought the snake downstairs and plugged it in. <br /> He changed the bit on the snake to a clogchopper bit. He sent the snake into the drain and clearly identified where the clog was. He used the bit for several minutes before pulling it back up to try another bit. <br /> He attached an angled scraper bit and was able to get through the clog. The water was now draining and he spent several minutes running water through the drain and moving the snake through the length of the drain. <br /> Wes once again attached the clogchopper bit but was not able to get it through the drain. However, water was clearly flowing and the clog appeared to be gone so he stopped using the snake. <br /> He returned the snake to his truck and came back with a drain inspection camera. He moved the camera slowly through the length of the drain making sure there was no damage or remaining clogs. <br /> Wes returned the equipment to him truck while I printed the coupon and searched for my checkbook. <br /> Wes was very thorough but did not waste time. He appeared to double check everything (especially during the camera inspection) and made sure the drain was working well before he left. <br /> I have worked on this drain a number of times in the past. I had a lot of experience and asked a lot of questions. Wes answered every question and appreciated the fact that I was interested in what was going on. <br /> I almost called a different company before this one based on a recommendation from someone. That company had horrible reviews on Angie's List so I decided not to. Instead I looked at the ratings for the different drain cleaning services and All Ways stuck out so I took a chance.
