"I worked all the details with Kevin through phone and email.  Kevin delivered on every detail we had agreed to.  Action Carpet made an initial visit to explain what they were going to do.  They then came in on the scheduled date.  Moved all furniture items, removed the old carpet, installed new carpet, installed door transitions, and moved all furniture items back to where they were.  Highly recommended!!! <br />"

"John Balayan, the owner of Arakelian Rugs, is truly amazing! We called Arakelian Rugs after a disastrous spill on our oriental rug that resulted in red splatters in a large section of the rug. John not only immediately contacted us, he also came right out to see if it would even be possible to repair the damage. We are truly amazed that the team at Arakelian was able to restore our rug - we cannot even see any remnants of the stain! John gave us a timeframe for each step of the process and kept in touch with us throughout. We then had several other rugs cleaned at very reasonable prices. The rugs were picked up, delivered, and placed. We also purchased new padding which makes such a difference. We are truly grateful to the entire team at Arakelian Rugs for such professional and outstanding service."

"This is the second time that we have used Schneider's for flooring and we were very pleased with the quality and variety of the flooring available. Also we were very pleased with the installation. They truly go the extra mile to make sure that you are happy with both their product and installation. They were very patient with my wife and I in picking out the product that we wanted within our budget and showing us options if we wanted to step up or down in price. They always respond very quickly to phone calls and installation was done in a timely manner. We found there installers to be skilled and knowledgable. When installing new carpet the first time we used them, we mentioned to the installer that our floors squeaked in a number of places and asked him if he could do anything about it. He fixed most of the squeaks by putting in additional screws to tighten up the subfloor at no extra charge. We were very happy since we were preparing to out the house on the market. <br />"

"Chris provided the services of carpet cleaning and his contracted carpet stretching at our home. He doesn’t provide an estimate in person for the cleaning, but offers a rate per square footage. His final price matched our calculations based on the measurements of the rooms. The carpet stretcher did come prior to estimate the carpet stretching. The quality of work was excellent and professional, both for the carpet cleaning and his associated carpet stretchers. We thought the pricing was fair and reasonable compared to another estimate we received. We will plan to use this service again. We prefer to use owner operators and hiring Chris was a good decision for us."

"These guys were excellent and pricing was very fair. Perfectly on time for both the estimate and the work, called to confirm the day before, were very professional, took great care to keep the house safe from dust (for the tile removal), and did an excellent installation right down to all the corners and details. Would definitely use them again in the future. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in New Haven, CT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
