"Jeremiah was amazing with customer service. Attentive, always responded. Lamar was the technician. I just didn’t feel like he had a lot of experience but he was here quite awhile, inside and outside the home. Jeremiah said they charged $299 and no mileage fee, but did not mention that the two tests to see if it was black mold would be $700! That was upsetting but you were stuck because you had paid $300 for him to come out. It took a while to get tests back but that wasn't their fault. Just wish we hadn't been blindsided, but otherwise very reliable."

"Rick was very friendly and informative. We had him come in for a water system quote to remove iron and manganese from our water. He sampled our water, gave us the results immediately and also tested our air quality. He was so thorough and knowledgeable that we were able to close the deal on both a water treatment system and air purifiers that are already making a noticeable difference!"

"We had a fire 18 years ago and they were the ones that the insurance company used to come in and de-smoke the house and clean everything. They did a really fantastic job. They cleaned a carpet that was sitting outside and it looked really bad and I thought I was going to have to take it to the dump. They cleaned it and it looked brand new. It was amazing because I thought the thing was going to the dump. They do a super job. Every time I have been ready to change my carpets, I have them come and I have new carpets again and I don't have to buy another one. They have also done a great job with any upholstery I've had them do. I've used two other companies that had a special and might have cost a little less. Their price is competitive and fair. Their quality is excellent. If they are going to be 15 minutes early or late, they call. I use them twice a year."

"PuroClean showed up and began immediately to dry the damage floors. They also worked with our insurance company helping them understand the damage caused by the leak in a very short time, like less than a week. They were professional and provided Value for the their work including drying the damp areas from below the floor and above removing the possibility of a mold issue."

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in New Portland, ME

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
