"Our existing bathroom was a half bathroom with sink vanity, toilet, washer and dryer. We needed to eliminate laundry equipment and add shower and closet in the space that was designated for a washer and dryer, and add outside venting. We also wanted to tile the whole bathroom up to the ceiling. The job was performed excellent and we are very happy with the choices we made. Bill Perry and his crew were working in our house before renovating basement and building rooms there, so we knew that they were the best company for us. They were great giving us advice to improve on things that we wanted done, so they look and work better with a given space. We are very happy again. Thank you Perry Brothers!"

"We were looking to replace a tub and fix a leak in our old house. Jeff came and inspected and gave us a very reasonable estimate. They replaced the tub and the tile contractors were great. We then thought we'd just throw in a change of toilet and that then revealed a serious flooring problem. We ended up remodeling the small bathroom and Jeff did a great job. He is honest and wants to make the customer happy."

"Joe managed our bathroom remodel and we are very pleased with both the process and the result. Joe brings years of experience which helped define the scope of the project. He is great at communicating details involved for each step, always responsive to any of our questions. The cost was very competitive and the workflow was efficient - there were no gaps in any of the phases of work. I highly recommend Joe for any remodeling project!"

"John is the best! We obtained 3-4 quotes for our full bathroom remodel. Everyone else estimated 6+ weeks to remodel the bathroom - which is our only shower. John promised he would have it done in 2 weeks. It was fully complete in 13 days! This was a total remodel down to the studs. Great work, super fast, super responsive, and his cost was right in the middle of the estimates we received. This was in Nov. 2019. Since then we have had John's team back on a number of projects: to replace our fireplace mantle and staircase, and repaint our first floor. He also installed new pantry cabinets in our kitchen and new flooring in our basement. John is now our go to guy for all our home repair needs. He's great - can't recommend high enough!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Edian and his crew at Alexis were sensational to partner with, did very high quality work, and made the experience seamless despite a meaningful degree of complexity. I purchased an old (c 1900) two-family home knowing it was in need of a lot of work, but I didn't appreciate the full scope of that work; there are always surprises in the walls! Edian was very thorough in his initial bid, was highly detail-oriented once work commenced, and always fully explained to me everything he found. He and his team of highly experienced trades folks were always able to come up with creative solutions to the problems we uncovered, and usually were able to give me multiple, easy-to-understand options for how to proceed. In terms of the finished product, I couldn't be happier. Another element that impressed me was the level of service throughout the project. Edian treats every client like they are his only client, even when he has other jobs going. He always goes above and beyond when it comes to responding to questions or issues that come up, making time to meet and discuss ideas, or just generally addressing concerns. Edian also did a great job of coordinating the work of other trades folks who had parts to play on the project (but weren't his own subs), such as the landscapers and various custom installers. And, as we finished parts of the project and tenants moved into the building, he even did some light property management work for me (receiving deliveries, helping with installation of fixtures, helping with move-in). Truly a white-glove experience. And just a note on Edian himself, I couldn't have asked for a more responsive, proactive, patient, and trustworthy contractor. I had some experience going in, but this project was the first of this scope I had taken on, and Edian not only helped me feel at ease through the bumps in the road, but also taught me a ton about how these complex renovations are done successfully. He also has an incredible level of follow-through and reliability (anyone who's worked with many contractors knows how rare this is!), and continued providing support for little things that came up after the scope of work was completed (ripped screens, installing finishing hardware, repairing a door, etc.). Bottom line, Alexis isn't necessarily the cheapest option out there (Edian will tell you this from the beginning of the project), but if you want very high quality and a highly responsive and trustworthy relationship with a contractor and crew, look no further. Personally, I won't use anyone other than Edian for future projects."

"John and his team finished our basement, including the installation of a 3/4 bathroom. The project went extremely well from beginning to end. Our house is over a hundred years old, which brings unique challenges in terms of access (narrow stairways and uneven stairs), plumbing, etc but John was able to find solutions to each of them. My wife and I are neophytes with home projects, especially of this size, but John's style was exactly what we needed. He provides several options that work, but then steps back and lets you make the decision - no pushing based on what is easiest for him or which might increase the cost. He has a really calm demeanor that makes you comfortable that he knows what he is doing. Communication was great throughout the project, as Kim Lancaster would provide updates of when John or one of his subs would be on site (which was helpful, since he was working on multiple projects). We felt really comfortable with them in our home, and each sub that he uses demonstrated the same level of expertise and professionalism as John. John even returned a few months after the project was completed to trim our doors, as the separate carpet installation was too thick to fit unless the doors were resized (on a Saturday no less, without charging us). We had originally reached out to them a year ago but they were too busy - we priced out other contractors but decided to wait for John due to the great reviews. I am really glad we waited and worked with the Lancasters and hope to use them again in the future, only next time we will reach out well in advance!"

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in New-town, MA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
