"Shawn was fantastic from start to finish. He responded promptly to my request for an estimate. He is extremely knowledgeable and spent time walking me through my options and explaining the pros and cons of those choices. On install day he and his crew arrived on time, worked extremely hard and kept an extremely clean work environment. I would highly recommend Riley's Carpet Services"

"Used Angie's List coupon. Worth the drive to Laurel from Owings Mills. Owner himself came out to measure and give estimate. Please keep in mind that if you have, say, a 1000 square foot space to cover and there a number of rooms and closets and hallways and zigs and zags that add up to 1,000 square feet and the price is $1.00 per square foot, your cost will not be $1,000. Carpet is sold and installed by the roll, which maybe 12 or 15 feet wide. If there are a lot of corners and things to cut out and around then you will pay for that waste. I ended up with several seams (which are invisible) because the owner when measuring and determining the estimate used a more economical method in terms of material required, but it meant a little more work for the installers and saved me money. The installers themselves were punctual and efficient. Installing carpet is hard work. As mentioned there were a couple more seams with my installation but they were handled well and wouldn't be noticed even if they were pointed out. The carpet was a low level Mohawk product, but so far I have less than no complaints. It looks great and definitely will add value to my condo. I would not hesitate to use PriceCo for any future flooring needs."

"Excellent! I have a terrible time choosing the right color and material, but design consultant Stephanie helped me pick just the right flooring. Her level of service and consultation is outstanding. Installation also went very smoothly. A very good experience overall."

"The operatives arrived promptly. They gave me a price I thought was fair including my 10% reduction for senior status. They finished the job within the time projected. Nice job will use the company next time around. I prefer not to quote price as it depends on square footage of rugs and the size of furniture. Thank you Normandy Carpets."

"After searching online for stair runners and installation, Main Street Oriental Rugs in Ellicott City, MD, clearly had the most helpful information available.  We visited the shop in the historic section of Ellicott City, and the owner, Mojan Bagha, helped us select the right carpet for the runner--not the most expensive, and not something that would look inappropriate.  The stair runner required two 90 degree turns that had to be measured precisely.  Mr. Bagha personally made the measurements.  His installer, Robert, did an excellent job of professionally installing the runner with the right padding.  The seams at the right angles were impossible to detect.  Robert ensured all work areas were protected during installation and cleaned afterwards.  After a month of hard use, the runner still looks like new and is very comfortable to the feet, as well as providing better traction than bare wood.  We are absolutely delighted with the entire process, from website research, to shop visit, to onsite measurements, to final installation.  Most highly recommended! <br />"

"Fantastic service from beginning to end. They have a large selection of flooring to choose from. They came out, measured and went over the options with us. We choose Eucalyptus flooring for the main floor with some vinyl planks in the kitchen. Items came quickly and then they had a crew ready in 2 weeks. The crew was excellent. It took a day to do the hardwood, and half a day for the vinyl. They were profession and the work looked perfect when done. The crew was quick and always made sure what they were doing was want we wanted if there were any questions. The staff from National Carpet always made sure we knew what was going on and what was next. The price for service and flooring was the best out of 4 places we checked. They were not high pressure lets sign today either like other places and they were willing to work with you to get what you wanted. Whenever we get more flooring work done, this is the place I am going too."

"An excellent experience all around. We had our entire downstairs tile floor replaced with vinyl planking. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The estimate was absolutely pressure free. The installation crew was top notch and courteous. When they were done our rooms were as clean as before the job was started. I highly recommend them."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in New Windsor, MD

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
