Customers say: Quick response

"I had a great experience with Joe , getting a co-op unit inspected. His price was very reasonable and he was very accommodating when unexpected obstacles occurred on the day of the inspection. He was very thorough and knowledgeable. I love that he explained everything at the inspection, which was very helpful. Everything was also written out in a detailed report that he sent very promptly. We ended up not purchasing the unit. What really helped us with this difficult decision is Joe's leveled and unbiased relaying of what he found at the inspection. He didn't exaggerate any flaws for example. At the end of the day we feel like we dodged a bullet after the inspection and will definitely be hiring Joe again once we find a home to purchase. Highly recommend him."

"They were quick to respond as soon as I let them know about the water damage. Had guys come in same day to rip apart the dry wall and apply fans and air purification devices to start drying the water. In a few days, they got everything patched up quick and replaced the radiator valve that caused the issue. My only thing was when I had a plumber come in a few weeks later to look into a separate issue with a leaking pipe between the valve and radiator, he had commented that whoever replaced the valve should have also replaced the pipe as well as it's not good to connect something new to something old. But otherwise, the job was done well and quickly to mitigate any further water damage. Definitely would recommend to others!"

Small jobs welcome

"The owner of the company, Phil Tantella, spent time on the phone with me giving me lots of information beyond what his scope involved. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. Working with his company was a good experience from start to finish. The process takes time, and Phil stayed in touch, keeping me up-to-date so I could move forward with other planning."

"John M. was courteous, timely, and professional in his inspection. He was upfront about the issues -- whether they are serious or minor, rare or common, and whether more specialized input is required. His written report was very well done and will serve as a great home guide for us in the future after we move in. Thank you!"

"Very pleased, not only because the professional services, but also truely fully insured business. Many contractors only carry liability insurance, which might be the minimum requirement to be listed in HomeAdvisor, but in real world, it's necessary to have Worker's comp and E&O. I'm very glad Supra has them all, and send me the copy of the certificate insurance before doing the job. Highly recommended."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in New-york, NY

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
