"Our furnace stopped working on a Saturday. I called JMSM when two of the big names in Columbus couldn't help. He came on time, could access the part when the big names said I would have to wait until Monday, fixed it and was even cheaper. I can't give a high enough recommendation for John. We were looking at waiting 48 hours for a furnace repair, in January, when the high was in the 20s, with kids and a baby, and instead it only took a few hours. I will call John at JMSM first next time!"

"The first visit was very good. The person was punctual and very helpful. He installed the sump pump which was the purpose of the call out, and then also fixed some outside guttering that was letting water run into the basement. The job probably took longer than expected due to the additional work that was added on but the person was polite and efficient and very helpful. The second visit was to fix a leaking water pipe valve. Two people came out and provided a quote for install of two valves. The quote was pricey but we agreed. After going to get supplies we were told that the second valve could not be installed. This didn't reduce the price and instead we were told that the second valve wasn't in the original quote. This was a bit odd. The work was done well but seemed very expensive for what was being done. After this visit I received a call to verify that the job was done properly. Even though I said more than once that I wasn't there (my husband was) and I couldn't verify the work, there was no attempt to follow up the job with my husband and my response that I didn't know seemed to be accepted as a positive review. We have used this company before and they have been really good, but our last experience was not so good. Unfortunately this will make me reconsider using this company in the future."

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Newark, OH

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
