"We have worked with other carpet stores over the years and are fortunate to <br /> have found Carpet Carousel on Angie’s List. We needed to recarpet the upstairs <br /> study which is reached through a “floating” spiral staircase. Both the study <br /> and the treads of the staircase had to use the same material. <br /> <br /> We first had a store we were familiar with take a look. They initially <br /> weren’t sure how they would carpet the treads of the spiral staircase or how <br /> they would move the furniture to carpet the study. I then found Carpet Carousel <br /> on Angie’s List and Shawn came over. He immediately figured how to carpet the <br /> treads and move the furniture. We then visited their show room where Shawn <br /> showed us a number of samples that could work. We took a few with us and made a <br /> decision. In the meantime, we got a quote from the other carpet store and <br /> nearly fell over – it was just about twice the price of Carpet Carousel. <br /> <br /> The installation was excellent. The two men doing the job were punctual <br /> and knew exactly what to do. After the job was done, the area was vacuumed and <br /> the furniture replaced. I highly recommend Carpet Carousel and only wish I had <br /> known about them years ago. <br />"

"Nicky gave us a sale price on our carpet even though the sale hadn't started yet. He also gave us some good advice and we ended up going with a Berber carpet for our busy living room that's been exactly the right choice for us. The crew who showed up to install the carpet was on time, quick, and professional.  <br /> I called Nicky again the day before a big snowstorm. Someone had suggested carpet tubes as a way to keep a toddler busy, and Nicky wasn't at all fazed when I asked if I could have one. He sent over two tubes and even threw in some carpet squares (one of which is 3' x 8' and perfect for my hallway). My son was thrilled to roll his balls and trains down the carpet tubes, and I was thrilled that it kept him entertained when we were snowed in. <br />"

"This is the third time we have used Universal Hardwood for floor work. The first time we had the floors in most of our 80 year old home repaired, sanded and refinished. We were very impressed with the work that was done and when we had additional work, we called Universal. Our second job done by Mike and his guys had them install a new cherry floor in a kitchen renovation, stain the floor and finish coat it. We also had the rest of the house not refinished previously completed. The new kitchen floor made our old house look contemporary. A great job! This summer we had a smaller garden condo in Brookline in need of some floor work. Three years ago we had Universal out to estimate the job and they were honest enough to tell us it didn't quite need it yet. In July, Mike came out to look at the job within a day of my call. He agreed it was time to refinish the floor. Within a week the floor was complete. Although he warned us some of the staining might not come up, the whole floor looked beautiful. And to our surprise an excellent job was done on the clean up as well. Should we have another floor job to be done, Universal will be our first and only call. <br />"

"Fantastic. I have a 2 year old and 4 year old. AJ Hubbard and Sons is very family friendly. They were great with the kids in the showroom (my kids loved their childrens play area) and great with them when they came to install answering the 4 year olds questions with a smile. They made every aspect from picking the carpet, getting the quote and installing easy. They completely understood my carpet needs (low to no vocs) as my kids play on this carpet and even aired it out before install. I had looked a two other places first, one didn't know what a voc was and the other was rude tried to nickel and dime everything and said 15 foot wide carpet doesn't exist. Then I found AJ Hubbard a true gem and they know their stuff. I love my new 15 foot wide low voc carpet and my kids do as well. Everyone at AJ Hubbard is polite, respectful, professional and knows the products. If there happens to be a question about a product they don't know they immediately call and get you the answer. If you are looking for new flooring this is the place to go to."

"Excellent!  We met once to work on an estimate and select the carpet.  Don answered all of my questions.  After that we scheduled the install by email and telephone and the work was started and finished exactly on time. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in North Andover, MA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
