"We needed a flooring contractor to install a new tile floor in our small upstairs bathroom. I had already done the demo work, removing the old tile and 1/2” plywood underlayment, leaving the original subfloor exposed. And we had already purchased the tiles we wanted, so we only needed someone to replace the new underlayment and install the tiles. Don quickly responded to our request and stopped by the scope the project and discuss various options with me for the job. I was impressed with his obvious knowledge and experience in tile floor installation. He sent me a quote within a few days. The quote came in higher than the others we received, but we were able to reduce it some by buying the underlayment ourselves, and Don chipped in by reducing the cost of some of his labor. The installation itself was don by Don’s installer, Justin. Justin is the the most hard working, meticulous and “perfectionist” contractor I’ve ever worked with, He spent all of day 1 cutting and stapling down the new plywood underlayment and plastic membrane. He spent day 2, from 8:30 am until 11 pm(!) (he asked my permission to work late into the night) positioning and laying the tiles and marble threshold. He spent time with me making sure the 12 x 24 tiles were in the correct pattern and aligned properly relative to the door opening, shower, etc. He also spent much time making sure the threshold was at the right height between the new tiles and our existing carpet. He spent day 3 (a much shorter day!) grouting the new tiles and cleaning up. What impressed me most with both Don and Justin, was their “customer first” attitude. At every “decision point” of the planning or the actual job, they would stop and check with me, to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. There were no “oh, I thought you meant...” surprises throughout. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Our new tile floor is beautiful and clearly shows the quality and skill of Don and Justin’s work. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again for any of our future flooring needs."

"Rick provided exceptional service that eliminated odor and pet hairs from my living room carpets. I was impressed by his equipment that did a deep penetration of the carpet with chemical free applications - far superior to what I have experienced with carpet cleaning in the recent past. All stains were removed and the carpet looks like new! He also removed stains from my staircase carpets. Rick vacuumed all residue pet hair, etc. that resulted from the deep cleaning. I will definitely use Rick's service for carpet cleaning in the future and will recommend his service to others. <br />"

"excellent 1. Although I though the carpet was a bit pricier for the bedroom than I expected - it has been 10 years since I did it the last time and so I don't have a good guide to tell me otherwise - I will say that I did get competing bids on the other flooring and they were right in the mix. within a few hundred dollars - but their service is great! They were very good about ordering the carpet - and installing it quickly before new furniture is delivered - the installers went about their work quickly, neatly, quietly and were great to deal with - No real need to deal with them at all - the best kind of worker - no needed assistance or supervision - just get out of their way and let them do their thing! I expect I will hire them to do the other flooring because they were so good."

"Started well then the job lingered. Between unexpected trouble with the sub floor, not their fault, several sick days, and items not ordered for the job, it took longer than quoted. The other inconvenience was it took them two weeks to remove the ripped out carpet. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in North-Salem, NH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
