"Jake has done all of our electrical for our remodel upgrades. His pricing is consistent with other quotes we have received. He does an exceptional job and provides recommendations if he finds something that doesn’t meet current codes or he feels may be a hazard. We value his knowledge. I would recommend Jake 100% with a rating of 10 (from 1-10)."

"Nichols promptly replied to my needing an electrician and came right out and fixed my problem. The other companies I contacted did not even have the decency to return my calls or check on me. my house could have burned down! I will definitely call on Nichols again if I have a problem!!!"

"Daniel did an excellent job with my Main Panel upgrade and adding 2 EV chargers as well as 12 recessed lights! Everything turned out exactly as needed. Great to have someone you trust, pricing was extremely reasonable and he showed respect to my property and time! Only electrician I will need to know."

"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"Shawn was knowledgeable and skilled. He was able to locate the problems and suggested several solutions with different costs, and allowed me to determine the extent of the upgrade and the corresponding cost. He practiced self separation from me in this time of the emergency and was still friendly and personable. We are looking to do a small kitchen downstrairs and he will do the upgrade and wiring that will be needed. Great craftsman."

"Danny is very honest. He explained to me the electrical work I wanted done was out of his scope of expertise. He went on to say that most electricians would probably tell me the same thing. I appreciate Danny's honesty and will definitely have him do work for me in the near future."

"The overall experience was good. Even though our roof is quirky and we have parts that are shaded, they were able to angle panels in different areas to get the maximum sun exposure. There was one glitch...the system wasn't working when we first turned it on upon approval from the electric company but once I contacted them they were quick to come out. The problem was a switch that hadn't pushed on properly and was an easy fix. We felt like they worked very hard to get the system in for us quickly and were polite and professional throughout the experience."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in North-San-Juan, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
