Customers say: Quick response

"We bought a condo in Bellevue Washington and the previous owners had a carpet installed but it was poorly installed and within short order it developed rolls and bulges. We recalled the original installer to time and neither was successful and the rolls returned in short order.
I called Tobias at Mercer Island Floor Covering. He came out the very next day. He called in advance to tell us he was on his way and arrived on time. They went right to work and solved our problem quickly and efficiently. Not only that but he moved the furniture at no extra charge. I would recommend him to anyone who needs carpeting installed for re-stretched.

"I have used Ryan's restoration twice now when we have had water mishaps. They have been responsive in bringing out the huge fans to dry the carpet underneath and returned to make sure there was no moisture left before taking the fans away. They have also cleaned the carpet in a couple of rooms and did very good work.

"Called back to make appointment fairly quickly, was very friendly.   Showed up when he said he would.    Jim was very nice and did a great job.   It was a relatively smalll project but sometimes it's hard to even get anyone to call you back, let alone do these small jobs.   We will use again I'm sure, and I would highly recommend for carpet repairs, or whatever carpeting needs."

"Adam was fantastic. He came out looked at the issues and quickly offered suggestions for the fix and quoted a very fair price. John the installer was diligent, professional and measured over and over again to make sure it was correct. Beautiful result. We would give him a higher rating if possible!"

"It went great and it's good to see the fence standing again.  Kairos was responsible, hard-working, efficient, and picked up their work area.  I am very pleased with the work that was completed and it was done for a reasonable price.  I was glad I was able to hire Kairos - it was a fluke that thhey came out this far from their service area, but I'm very glad they did.  I felt that I received the service I paid for, which was labor for fence repair.  If there is a next time, I'll have some pickets available to catch the couple that we all missed seeing. It's a relief to have working gates again and a repaired fence!  Thanks!

"In early April we asked John to give us an estimate to replace some rotted exterior trim boards and to build a storage shed with a
window, skylight and siding to match our house.   He talked to us about the shed and gave us some ideas on how to make the most of the space. (I was a little disappointed with how long it took him to get us the initial estimate.) Although the cost of the shed was high for a shed it was exactly what we were expecting considering the current cost of lumber and labor.  Once we started working with them we never had a problem getting a hold of John.  The process of building the shed went very smoothly. John and all of his
carpenters are very nice, easy to work with, and always on-time.  We were very impressed with their quality of work and attention to
detail (it may only be a shed but since it is visible from the street we wanted it to have a look in keeping with our house and we also wanted it to be solid and secure).  They clearly take pride in their work.  After the shed we decided to move forward with having First Choice replace our roof and give our house a mini-facelift. They were always neat, they cleaned up at the end of every day and were respectful of our property.
In total, First Choice did 4 projects over a 6-week period.  We are extremely happy.  Everything looks great!  They made whole process as painless as possible.  Now that we have found such a great contractor we are planning to do more remodeling next year.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in North Bend, WA

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
