"Great job mounting my lights. Helped remove an old solid wood 70’s box light. Had some issues getting the living ceiling fan installed. My previous fan had one switch for the fan and one for the light. I guess the wiring is old and incompatible with this new fancy fan. So now one light switch turns the fan and light on and the other switch that controled the old fan does nothing. Thankfully the fan can with a remote control so I use that to turn the fan on and off and it works just fine as a work around. I am very happy with the service provided and will use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"I cannot express enough my gratitude for and impressions of Mario! We had already had a different electric company in the area service our breaker panel twice recently, and over $400 later, we were still having issues with power cutting off repeatedly in part of our home. This being a holiday weekend, I decided not to waste any more time and money on the original company, and to search for an electrician that might be available 24 hours. Allied Electric came up in my search, so I gave them a call, and to my surprise, Mario answered his phone, took some information, then as he was already on another assignment with another customer, promised me a call back within the hour. He not only lived up to his promise for a return call, but was able to come to our home within a short time after that (after he completed yet another service call; obviously this man is hard-working all hours and all days of the week!). He was kind, courteous, professional, knowledgeable, yet he explained things in consumer-friendly terms, spent time trouble-shooting and making necessary adjustments, and after all of that, he did not even charge us! I was fully expecting to pay a bit more than usual due to the emergency weekend call I was making, and most other electric companies charge a minimum just for showing up even during normal hours, and I tried to tell him I valued his time and how unprecedented it was to find a competent business in the area that would respond so promptly after hours, and even so, he insisted that only if we had further problems, to call him back and he would do whatever additional services might be necessary. I'm almost afraid to leave such a glowing review, as the next time I might need an electrician, Mario might be over-booked with other customers! But in all seriousness, my 20-month old little girl (who would have had to go to bed in the dark, as her bedroom was part of the house affected) and my family so truly appreciate Mario's time and service. Thank you so incredibly much!!"

"When what was suppose to have been an easy DIY project of installing LED lighting in my daughter's bedroom became a nightmare, I called Pur Solar and Nick was sent out to do an initial evaluation. He was honest and efficient in not only fixing what we had tried doing, but explaining why our DIY project did not work out. He expertly installed new LED lighting and it looks great! Communication on the office staff was wonderful and they always took the time to answer all of my questions. If we have any other electrical needs, I know who I will be calling :)"

"The technician was terrific and explained everything to me. He replaced the outlet plug quickly, upgraded it and only charged $80. I paid by check. He came quickly as well - 12/23 - and was right on time. My only problem was that I was promised an invoice by email and have not received it as yet. I called Thursday and left a message, but still no invoice."

"I highly recommend JDS Improvements - for roofing or any other work. (I will be hiring him to do other work around my house later this year.) He removed the old roof and two skylights and replaced them. He coordinated with the HVAC company to remove and replace the roof air conditioner so I was without air conditioning for only a few hours, which, in Arizona is so needed in July! He repaired the inside walls/ceiling that had to be trimmed to accommodate the new skylights. Extremely professional, IMPECCABLE INTEGRITY, responsive, listened and answered all of my many many questions, and accommodated my special needs. His crews are very respectful and after the work was done they cleaned up all areas - inside and outside. When they had to work inside, they put paper on the floors to walk on, paper on the counters, and then put plastic around the skylight opening when they repaired that area. They cared for and respected my house as if it was theirs and left it clean with no trace they were even there. Nothing was too small - the attention to the details was welcoming. Having lived in Sedona for 10 years I have finally found a contractor who does what he says he is going to do, shows up when he says he is going to show up, and not only walks you through the process but also talks to you about possible complications/issues and offers multiple solutions. QUALITY WORK AT GOOD RATES. I know I will never hire any other contractor for any home project I have in the future!! I know that I will never have to worry that the job was done right - the first time!!!"

"Was referred to chad from a friend, he was very helpful on what I needed to know and also discussed my roof age and the scenarios of waiting to re roof in 2 years or doing it with the solar. I have yet to get a utility bill and my connection fee is zero due to the credits I build up. Anyone thinking got going solar to save $ reach out to chad. Excellent experience."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Northern-Arizona-University, AZ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
