"I have never hired a housecleaner before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Since I have multiple skeletal issues I am finding it harder to maintain my home myself so I thought I would try a house cleaner. I chose Simply Clean because the process of getting a bid seemed the most complete and professional. In addition my husband works in a hazardous chemical program and insisted that any products that were used were natural. The couple that was assigned to me arrived promptly but made it quite clear from the outset that they spoke very little English (they were Russian) and made me feel as though they had no interest in making any attempt to communicate with me. In spite of this I did try to get through to them that I did not want the vanities cleaned in any bathrooms by showing them the vanities and saying "No". From the beginning during the time that I provided information for the bid I stated that the areas I wanted cleaned most were my floor hard surfaces and the showers. Although I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible I was intermittently checking to see what they were doing. What I saw was them cleaning the vanities washing the interior of windows, sweeping the kitchen floor (not wet mopping it) and cleaning the microwaves. I kept myself busy by going through some old paper work and found some items that needed to be shredded which I did. Later I had more items to shred and the shredder wouldn't work. At this point I called the phone number that was given to me if a problem arose. No one answered the phone so I left a message. No one called back. After a while I tried to get through to them that the shredder wasn't working. Since they couldn't understand me he called someone who had no authority over him and we used him as a translator. The man did manage to get the shredder working again. After a while, they appeared and said they were fini. At which point I said they weren't done. For one thing they were supposed to work for eight hours and they had only been here six. The showers had not been cleaned, the rug downstairs had not been vacuumed and the hard floor surfaces had not been cleaned. They did wash the hard wood floor in the sunroom and might have cleaned the center of the vinyl floor in the laundry room. I wiped a small patch in the kitchen with a wet napkin and it turned black (she had claimed it had been washed). She did wash the kitchen floor while I was watching and they also vacuumed the downstair area at this time. Meanwhile I called the company again and someone did answer the phone. I told her what was going on. She said she would get the woman who is in charge call me back. Several minutes later she did call. I explained what was happening. She then called her workers, spoke with them and called me back. My feeling was that she felt there was nothing she could do since she felt she was stuck in the middle. I actually got the feeling that she thought I was being unreasonable. By now, I only wanted these people out of my house so I told them to leave. I wanted them out of my hair so that I could concentrate on getting the areas cleaned that I had originally wanted cleaned. I cleaned both bathroom's floors, one shower and found that in the laundry nothing had been moved that was on the floor so there was an accumulation of dust and cobwebs behind some boxes. In addition, an email had requested that I put the oven through a self-cleaning cycle which I did. I found that no effort was made to wipe out the oven. There was some minimal effort to clean the refrigerator interior so I felt compelled to complete that job. When my husband got home he discovered that they had mixed the trash with the recycling when they took it out so he had to spend a considerable amount of time resorting the recycled materials from the trash. I had contacted four companies and was told that the initial cleaning is higher since the house must be brought up to their standards and that subsequent cleanings are not as pricey. If the level of cleaning that was done is what they consider to be deep cleaning I can't imagine what their maintenance cleaning is like. Believe me, I would never get an award for housecleaning. I am not that fussy that is why this is so unbelievable."

"The owner operator Steve met or exceeded all of our expectations. Start and finish dates were promised and met. All work in the proposal was completed to Steve's high level of craftsmanship by Steve and with some daily support from his son Nick. He also pointed out a number of smaller items that were not originally included and they were completed at no additional cost. He and Nick are fair, personable, and highly skilled. He is also happy to provide full explanations to any customer questions. If you have pride of ownership trust in his pride of workmanship and artisanship and hire him. I do some work from home and it was a pleasure to watch Steve's great results come to fruition each day."

"Two people came and they were done in about 2.5 hours. They were friendly, funny, and did a wonderful job. I would hire them again in a minute but they did such a good job and put protectant on the carpet so it might be a couple of years before I need them again!"

"The technician was supposed to put plastic down underneath the couch and never did. The carpet, which was NOT part of the service, was totally saturated when he left and stayed in the carpet, padding and on the sub-flooring for 10 hours. (I was at work) I spent 30 minutes after work suctioning up the excess solution with my carpet cleaning machine! This was a disaster! This particular franchise will NOT respond to complaints and all calls go to headquarters in Ohio. Paul Carson, Customer Relations Manager, Stanley Steemer International, refuses to refund any money and offered a $50 gift card to Stanley Steemer or to let them come back and clean our carpet! I will not allow them in our home again. FYI: Nineteen of 28 reviews on Yelp are 1 star and the BBB has MANY 1 star reviews. Save your money and hire one of the other reputable companies on Angie's List."
