"FOR POPCORN REMOVAL or PAINTING PROJECTS, CALL KANNEL'S PAINTING SERVICE. I hired Kannel's to remove popcorn from my ceiling. They completed the work last week and did a fantastic job. Rene and his team are a painting company, but they're also experienced at popcorn removal. This was a tough job, involving five rooms (including bedroom closets) and the hallway. For one thing, the popcorn had been painted, which presents an extra challenge. Painted popcorn is harder to remove; water alone is not enough to soften it. But Rene and his team knew how to tackle it. Additionally, the ceiling had three cracks, two of which were seriously unsightly, that had developed over the years as a result of poor support of the sheet rock during the initial construction. Rene and his team went into the attic, placed 2x4 supports in the right locations, and then secured the sheet rock to the supports. In this way, they were able to stabilize the ceiling in the cracked areas and then patch and paint. After the popcorn removal, they took care of all additional necessary patching, then primered and painted the entire ceiling (two coats). They are seriously hard, steady, consistent workers. They arrived and left at the same time each day until the job was done. I was at the house each day and I saw how hard they worked. They put forth a tremendous effort and I am extremely pleased with the result. It truly looks like a brand new ceiling. Their price was competitive and I'd hire them again. I highly recommend KANNEL'S PAINTING SERVICE for popcorn removal and for all of your painting needs. His company has 16 years of experience. Call Rene at 510-502-5483."

Customers say: Quick response

"We had some damage from the recent wind driven rains and had a water mitigation company tear out all the drywall and trim around three French doors. Juan replaced the sheet rock, trim, texture, and paint. Quality work, very happy with the results. Looks better than before!"

"We're very pleased with the drywall repair/repainting job done by Dango Drywall. The two workmen handily repaired a 2 x 2 ft opening in our living room ceiling that resulted from water damage and subsequent plumbing repairs. They also repainted the affected area, after taking the trouble to shop for the shade of paint needed to closely match the rest of our ceiling. As others have mentioned, Dango Drywall worked both expertly and efficiently, completing the entire job in less than 3 hours. And all for a very reasonable price!"

"Guillermo Hernandez of Complete Drywall and Plaster is simply the best! While the rest of my 1906 house was in great condition, the plaster in the kitchen was covered in cracks. But Guillermo is even more of a perfectionist than I am, and there isn't one tiny flaw in the completed job! He's reliable, totally honest, timely, fair, and full of knowledge. He's a pleasure to work with and someone who takes pride in his craftsmanship. He went out of his way to be sure I made my deadline. I wouldn't call anyone else for plaster or drywall!"

"It was time for a new exterior paint job on our home where my wife and I live in El Granada. Although the house is small, it sits on a hillside, so access for painting can be tricky. I contacted three paint companies on Angie's List and got bids. <br /> When Mike Bright of M Bright Painting came, he was confident that his crew could handle the job easily without scaffolding. I said we wanted three colors, had never painted a house before, and needed help in selecting the colors and where to place them to accent the windows, doors, roofline and trim to get a result we would like. Mike assured us that he would come back and do that for us as the scheduled date for our job got closer. <br /> His bid, at $3170, came in lowest of the three, and his Angie’s List reviews were very good, so we decided to go with him. All this was during the rainy season, so M Bright Painting was doing their best to schedule their various jobs around the uncertainties of the weather. At the beginning of January it was our turn. <br /> <strong> What We Liked Best<br /> </strong> <br /> We are pleased with the final result. The house looks great. <br /> The job went quickly, with most of it being completed in two days. <br /> Jeff, the lead painter on the two-man crew that did the work, was pleasant, responsive, skilled and efficient – a pleasure to work with. <br /> The final price, although higher than the original bid, still came in lower than the two other bids. <br /> <strong>What Could Have Been Better<br /> </strong> <br /> The biggest problem is that we did not get the help with color selection and design that we expected, and were left to decide on our own at the last minute. This was stressful. <br /> We chose 3 colors from a Kelley-Moore color booklet that another contractor had left. Jeff painted on samples, and we didn’t like how they looked. We picked four additional colors, and Jeff came back over the weekend to paint those. They expected us to make up our minds over the weekend, so they could order the paint and get started on Monday. <br /> When Mike finally showed up to discuss design with us, the job was well under way and we had mostly done the design ourselves. His input was more about getting the job done in a hurry than in winding up with a look that would be pleasing to us. I’m glad we pushed back and insisted on what we wanted. <br /> Another issue is that the terms of the bid – which had boilerplate small print specifying one-coat-coverage for most of the house – was not discussed ahead of time with us. It would have been nice to to have the option of deciding ourselves on the trade-off between quality and cost on one-coat versus two-coat coverage. Our lack of understanding about that resulted in the $670 of unanticipated cost. <br /> <br /> <strong>Our Recommendations<br /> </strong> <br /> 1. At the end of the day, these guys did a good, professional job at reasonable cost, and the painters were pleasant to work with. My recommendations if you want to use them: <br /> 2. When it comes to color and design, be prepared to determine this on your own, or get any needed advise from a third party. <br /> 3. Before agreeing to a contract, make sure you understand the trade-offs of cost and quality on one-coat vs. two-coat painting on the various parts of your house. Take charge of this and make the decision yourself. <br /> 4, Be prepared to closely inspect the work before you sign off on it. There were about a half dozen places on our house where touch-up work was required. <br />"

"It went very well.  I contacted him initially in late November.  He was busy and so was I so we scheduled the work for 12/28.  That day he called early to tell me he would be a little late.  He arrived and went right to work.  He tore off our old wallpaper and removed the under layer.  Then he applied a coat of plaster to the entire wall.  He applied it very smoothly so there was no waste and little sanding needed.  He had us put a heater and fan blowing on the wall to dry it thoroughly.  He came back the next day and sanded the wall.  That only took about an hour. <br /> He was thorough, quick and efficient.  I was happy with the work and would definitely recommend him to others. <br />"

"Yury, Oleg and their team were fantastic. They ripped out our old floors and cabinets, installed kitchen cabinets, tiled the laundry closet, disposed of all the debris, and reconnected our appliances in just 8 days, well ahead of schedule. They showed up when they said they would. They worked hard and professionally all day, and they left the job site as clean as can be reasonably expected. They were at work every day (including Saturday!) with up to 6 guys. All the work was done by their team without subcontracting anything out, which makes things a lot easier. They purchased some of the materials themselves, but didn't mark it up by one penny. For the hardwood, they pointed us to their supplier, and allowed us to purchase the wood under their contractor's rebate. We bought the wood at 1/3 of the price that was quoted to us in a large local flooring shop. We love the floors, and we love the kitchen. Note that the project cost only includes the work, not any materials or appliances."
