"<ul> <li> <hr /> </li> <li>We are first time home buyers and the experience has been wonderful with Accuspect Home Inspection Inc.! If you decide to seek their service after this review my humble request to you would be - Please recommend them to others after your experience and Thank you to help spread the word on self owned company and for encouraging responsible entrepreneur to help build our society. Now to my experience,Once our offer was accepted - First step during our due diligence period was Home inspection, like everybody else reached out to google read through almost all the link possible on finding Home Inspection, asking friends, family, loan officer, person you just met and then stumbled upon Angie's list as well as our reliable real estate agent recommended Accuspect - A company run by a family. once you call the office Megaera provides you with the process and explains it to you until you understand and also provides you with quotes, available time and tips of Dos and Don'ts for the first time home buyers.Gary does the inspection. He was on time and after the inspection he spends time with you explaining issues and concern with the property. His valuable insight on the property helped us negotiate with the seller and also help plan our future maintenance and repairs. We were provided with the option to be present for entire inspection or spend few hours at the end and ask for the question which we had by looking at the sample report or kind of checklist(Which mentioned Property,Exterior structure,Exterior siding, Soffits and Fascias, window, door, and Wood trim,Roof, Chimney, and Gutter,Deck,Crawl space,Basement,Attic,Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing,Interior,Kitchen and Bathroom), during our consultation at the end of the inspection  Gary did advice on whether the needed repair will be a large or a small job, And also recommend us to hire a specialized inspector for the pool. His detailed report with pictures and good inspection gave us enough information to make an educated decision on our own and be confident to buy this home and invest in home in near future.Thank you to Megaera and Gary for acting as Book of answers to the first time home buyers.Hope this helps. I would like to end by saying a quote from Albert Einstein "In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity" and the tip would be while placing an offer on a house please request for 14 days in inspection and due diligence period if everything works out early for you you could end the due diligence period early.Good Luck with the inspection and your purchase experience. Please remember ultimately it's your choice.<br /> Regards,</li> <li>Pam.</li> <li> <hr /> </li> </ul> <hr /> <br />"

"I asked Georgia Radon Solutions Company for help to reduce the radon in my basement, which had a reading of 8. Mitchell Stein contacted me 2 hours before arrival. Upon arrival, he inspected the basement and explained how the work would be done and addressed my concern about how the duct would connect to the outside. He also gave me a reasonable price quote. He then noticed that I had an Aprilaire Energy Recovery Ventilator installed in my basement. I told him that the ventilator is not working and needs needs to be fixed. He suggested that I fix the ventilator and get it running, which may then solve my radon issue. I took the suggestion and fixed the ventilator, and now my basement has a radon reading of 2. I greatly appreciate Mitchell's professionalism and honesty. He was willing to put aside business profits to look out for a customer's needs, which is hard to find nowadays."

"If you choose a different company you are doing yourself a grave disservice. Metro Atlanta Radon Mitigation has the Best guarantee (< 2.7 pci/L or below for 10 years). I assumed due to the awesome guarantee I would naturally pay more, they were actually the lowest estimate by at least $1000. I couldnt believe it. My radon levels actually retuned at an average 1.5 pci/L. The customer service was excellent as well."

"The inspector was on time and very thorough.  He had a check list and inspected all parts of the home.  For areas that were difficult to get to (roof) he had binoculars and was able to see and identify some issues with the shingles. <br /> He delivered the report that evening.  The radon report was delivered three days later (to allow time for the test to collect information). <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Oakwood, GA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
