"Donovan was Great. He replaced the fan motor on our GE double Oven. He was very knowledgeable and truly Professional. He trouble shot the issue and started work right away. We had discussed the issue before he arrived and he ordered the part to have it for the install. Excellent job will go to Oâ Neil again for any appliance issue. Great work ethic and a great guy and family man."

"The job was flawless in execution. Jim and his helper completed the job in one day. He replaced the old cement wash tub with a new fiberglass tub. I am now able to use my clothes machine without putting a bucket under the wash tub.

"First, Sean is a very impressive hands on owner of Murphy Family Services. I received an appiintnwnr that woyld fit in my schedule. Sean followed up with text reminders and he was professional over the phone. Second, Scott arrived on time and took the time to troubleshoot the electrical issue so we would not waste time. He found that the electrical outlet housing the microwave was not giving enough amps, and as a result could have been a fire hazard. Scott fixed the problem by upgrading the electrical outlet supporting the microwave. Everything was courses, professional and fast. I would consider Murphy as my "house" electrician. Excellent customer service!"

"One oven doesn't work at all ( my choice, see above), the "working" oven was never calibrated properly so using it is hit or miss. It's time to call American Home Shield to see about replacing the entire unit. I'm waiting to finish other home projects before calling them. I don't know if I'll request Greenway again."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Ocean City, MD

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
