"I was very appreciative of the quick work they did on removing asbestos tiles off my roof. They were in and out very quickly and I'm grateful that I didn't have to worry about them causing my family or neighbors harm. As we will need to remove more asbestos in my home in the future, I'm certain that I would hire them for my future projects."

"Until he came I wasn't aware that the color of the upstairs and downstairs carpets were slightly different. He was able to patch the first hole with a remnant that I had. He patched the second hole with carpet that he was able to cut from an unobvious place in a closet so that the carpet matched perfectly. He then replaced the carpet in the closet with the remnant piece. I could not see the difference in the closet. Genius!"

"We had excellent results from UDK. Very professional and they know their stuff. They saved our hard wood floors that in my opinion were ruined. A special shout out to Nate Mitani and David Blanton. David showed up on Thanksgiving day to check on how thing were going. As far as I'm concerned they went above and beyond to keep things clean during the sheet rock tear out and all of the other stuff that goes along with water damage. I'd give them 10 stars if I could."

"John is great. I'd highly recommend him again and use him again. He worked to help us save money without cutting corners. Unlike any of our other bidders, he included all the costs for things like third-party asbestos testing. (We have an old house.) He even did some remodeling on our bathroom in addition to his disaster cleanup work -- without charging extra. The only (mild) drawback was he's so good at his job that he's pretty popular. It took a while for him to get to our job. He's definitely well worth the wait though. <br />"

"Before finishing the basement of my 1928 house, I knew we'd have to deal with the asbestos wrapped heating ducts.  A realtor suggested Eagle Environmental to me, and guessed the cost would be around $1500.  Chris at Eagle Environmental was able to describe over the phone exactly what was there -- I'm sure they've seen this in dozens of older homes.  Chris stopped by to inspect the site, take a few photos for records, and provided an estimate.  Since I would be finishing the basement, Eagle planned on removing the old ductwork, rather than scrapping off the asbestos and keeping the ductwork.  Modern ductwork has a much slimmer profile. <br /> The estimate was provided on a Thursday, and they were able to do the work on the following Monday.  It took just over 6 hours to complete everything.  Half of the time was spent sealing off the basement to contain the asbestos while they worked.  Crew leader Robert did an excellent job managing his crew.  They completed the work quickly and correctly.  There was minor damage to a small section of ceiling when they removed one of the ventilation boots.  Robert noted the damage, took pictures, and notified his company.  Eagle sent out a person the next day and repaired the damage.  I was very satisfied with that response. <br /> There aren't many reviews on Angies List for Salt Lake area asbestos removal.  I was worried about how much it might cost, and how much trouble it would be to remove asbestos.  Eagle's estimate was right in line with what the realtor guessed.  Eagle handled everything as expected.  Their professional manner removed my worry along with the asbestos. <br />"

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Ogden, UT

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
