"Ryan Musick and his Fivestone Foundations team were professional from the start. Ryan was accessible and prompt for his appointment to bid the project. He quickly took measurements, explained the capabilities of the system he wanted to install and emailed a bid soon after.  <br /> The project started the day my family and I left for a summer road trip. The Fivestone team arrived early and got right to work. We were doing last minute packing and loading up our car. The guys were polite and friendly and moving quickly on the job. Apparently, my older home has a thin concrete slab which allowed them to move around the perimeter of the basement in less time than they had anticipated. We left town and left them with access to the basement. Ryan kept us updated on progress and completion of the job. I was pleasantly surprised upon my return, at how clean they had left the basement. I had seen the amount of concrete and dust dislodged at the beginning of the project and there was not a trace when I returned.  <br /> It was some time before we had any rain in the St Louis area to test the system and when it did finally arrive, we noticed that a floor drain outside my basement door was clogged with silt. The sump system was not working for this particular exterior drain. I texted a picture to Ryan and he called immediately. He said he would talk to his installers and get back to me. Within the hour, he called back to say that the installer had worried about tying the drain into the sump system and thought that connecting it directly to the sewer line would be a better way to handle the dirt and silt.  <br /> Within 24 hours, another Fivestone Foundation team was at my door to connect the floor drain to the sewer line. That was fantastic response time! Again - they were polite, respectful, moved quickly and cleaned up after themselves.  <br /> I would highly recommend Fivestone to anyone looking to install a basement drain tile and sump system. They are knowledgable, professional and prompt.  <br />"

"I dealt with Tammy, who is the owner of the company.  After some initial difficulties in connecting and getting a time setup to complete an estimate, she was excellent.  She was very helpful in explaining the different options for our basement and brought with her 2 x 2 ft examples of the actual epoxy finishes.  We initially thought we were going to do a concrete stain finish, but after seeing the epoxy's marble-like appearance, we decided to go with it instead.  Their prices were also much cheaper than the 4 other companies we talked to (less than half the price).  We are very pleased with the floor and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.  Highly recommended! <br />"

"This was a major project that needed to be done. After living in our home just shy of five years, we discovered why the basement of our 60 year old home was never finished. We had constant water coming in through the seems of where the foundation of our home met the outside ground level. Our window wells would have water pour in with any major rain storm. After consulting two other companies, EverDry WAS the company who would assure us that all our troubles and water issues would be over. We had a sales rep out to our house within two days of initially making an appointment, at our convenience. He talked us through their process and why EverDry was great. This included the fact that they employ their own workers instead of hiring independent contractors for the manual work to their use of patented products and materials. The entire job took 5 days from start to finish. The job started by the crew hand digging an entire trench around the permitter of our home to seal with a special waterproof barrier and plastic, laying the drain tile, river rock and and carefully placing back dirt and mulch. Then they moved on to the inside to break of the concrete of our basement, hand dig, and manually removed thousands of pounds of concrete, rock, 60 year old failed drain tile. Then they installed a new drain tile, brought down new river rock, installed a new sump pump system, (3x as powerful as to what I had installed by a professional plumber two years ago), replaces the entire pump well with a new trustworthy system, created spouts for any potential water from coming into my home to drain properly in the new basement trench tile, installed an EZ Breathe Ventilation System (goodbye old dehumidifier), and poured back their very own patnented cement. The crew was great and showed up on time each day and cleaned up after each work day. They were professional and respectful of my home. I am very satisfied with the work done on my home. I can’t wait to finally finish the basement and use that space as an additional family area safe for my kids to enjoy."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Oglesby, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
